Mock NFL Draft has 4 L.S.U. Tigers going in the 1st round!

PICK3

New member
Geaux Tigers!!!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7149535/

1. Raiders JaMarcus Russell QB 6-5 253 LSU
Nothing has changed up at the top. Russell has the arm, athleticism and charisma to take this team and carry it on his back. There are a couple of key questions: When will he be ready to handle the responsibility and will he work hard enough to get the most out of his ability? Russell has a very fluid throwing motion and has great confidence in his ability. Rookie head coach Lane Kiffin and the Raiders’ No. 1 choice may be able to establish an immediate bond, knowing that they are in a very tough situation and will have to depend on each other.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Lions Brady Quinn QB 6-4 228 Notre Dame
Matt Millen will have nothing but regrets if he lets Quinn go by and he turns out to be a star. He may long for Joe Thomas, Gaines Adams and Alan Branch, but the Lions need a top-of-the-line quarterback. There’s no such thing as a sure thing, so Millen needs to go for the gusto and take Quinn and find a way to get him in the lineup by midseason.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Browns Joe Thomas OT 6-7 310 Wisconsin
The Browns wanted to improve their running game in the offseason and they believe they did that by signing Jamal Lewis away from the Ravens. While Lewis’ talents at this point in his career are debatable, Thomas is the best offensive lineman in the draft with quickness, agility, strength, tenacity and toughness. He excels as a run blocker. Trading down to acquire more picks and/or talent is a possibility.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Bucs Calvin Johnson WR 6-5 238 Georgia Tech
Jon Gruden needs some young talent on defense, but he won’t let Johnson pass. A great physical talent with the desire needed to become dominant. Johnson is similar to Houston’s Andre Johnson, who led the NFL with 103 receptions. Calvin Johnson is big, physical and tough and plays his best when the game is on the line. He can overpower nearly every cornerback he will go up against.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Cardinals Alan Branch DT 6-6 325 Michigan
New head coach Ken Whisenhunt would like to make a statement with his first pick. The Cardinals may want to trade with Cleveland in order to get Joe Thomas. If not, Branch looks like a solid pick because of his massive size and strength. Once he gets used to the rigors of the pro game, he should be able to dominate against the interior run.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. Redskins Adrian Peterson RB 6-2 218 Oklahoma
If Peterson remains on the board with the No. 6 pick, Joe Gibbs won’t be able to let him pass. Look for the Redskins to trade Clinton Portis and get a high pick for him. Portis is an outstanding back, but Peterson has too much value to let him get by. The key to Gibbs’ offense has always been the running gamem, and Peterson is a sensational looking prospect.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7. Vikings Gaines Adams DE 6-5 257 Clemson
This pick speaks volumes about the lack of progress made by Kenechi Udeze, the former first-round pick who looks like Superman and plays like Borat. Adams should be a difference maker as long as he is motivated. Some scouts feel he could take it easy once he has his payday. Sounds a little like Udeze. The Vikings need a quarterback and would love to move up into a position to draft Brady Quinn.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8. Texans Levi Brown OT 6-6 322 Penn State
A big, physical tackle with excellent durability and natural attributes. He can control a pass rusher with his long, strong arms and has a powerful base. He is climbing the charts following a strong showing at the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine. Brown has emotional maturity and seems like he will be able to handle the adjustment to the next level. Charles Spencer’s knee injury makes this pick a must.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9. Dolphins Amobi Okoye DT 6-2 305 Louisville
Tremendous upside on a player who is only 19. With great quickness and instincts, Okoye can take over at his position and cause havoc. The Dolphins have added a huge hitter in Joey Porter at the linebacker position and another lights-out guy in free safety Cameron Worrell. A young stud on the defensive line makes sense.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10. Falcons Dwayne Jarrett WR 6-4 218 USC
The Falcons could make a move up in the draft so they can select Johnson, but if they don’t Jarrett seems like a fine pick. Michael Vick has poor weapons at the WR position and head coach Bobby Petrino wants to install a complex offense that relies on the medium-range pass. Jarrett is not only a top-notch receiver, but he has improved steadily throughout his career.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11. Niners Leon Hall CB 5-11 193 Michigan
Yes, the Niners just signed Nate Clements and some other defensive backs. But Hall is a young talent and a great technician who can mirror the best receivers because of his work ethic and skills. He runs well, but Hall is not a true burner for the position. Mike Nolan will be tempted to go after Mississippi linebacker Patrick Willis, but Hall’s ability to cover receivers one-on-one without getting anxious makes him too attractive to pass up.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12. Bills LaRon Landry FS 6-1 193 LSU
A bona fide knockout hitter who has the intelligence, instincts and physical talent to change a game around. Landry will fly to the football and make plays. He is a versatile player who can also play corner or strong safety. Buffalo head coach Dick Jauron is a former defensive back during his playing days with the Lions, and Landry will allow him to turn that area into a strength for the Bills.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

13. Rams Patrick Willis MLB 6-1 243 Mississippi
Clearly the best middle linebacker prospect in the draft. He should be able to step in right away and get the job done against the run because he is big, thick and mean. The kind of defensive presence that the Rams have been missing for years. He needs to improve in pass coverage.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

14. Panthers Ted Ginn Jr. WR 5-11 180 Ohio State
A huge playmaker who can give his team a lift as a wide receiver or a return man. He not only times well for the stopwatch, he is fast into and out of his cuts and is an improved route runner. The Panthers are desperate to take some of the pressure off of Steve Smith and Ginn has the ability to do it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

15. Steelers Paul Posluszny LB 6-2 239 Penn State
A very instinctive player who will outwork the competition. After his knee injury following the 2005 season, he came all the way back by the midway point of the 2006 season. Explosive hitter with outstanding range. He plays with intelligence and emotion. At times Posluszny will be too aggressive and overrun a play. A natural pick for the Steelers who see Posluszny as a replacement for Joey Porter.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

16. Packers Marshawn Lynch RB 5-11 239 Cal
Lynch has the speed to be a difference maker for a long time in this league. In addition to being able to bust the long play, there is an innate toughness about him. He will often make has best runs after taking a big hit. The Packers also need significant help at the receiver spot, but Ahman Green’s departure tips the scales in Lynch’s favor.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

17. Jaguars Brandon Meriweather FS 5-11 195 Miami
Very productive player who has the athleticism and physical gifts to do a lot more in his pro career. Meriweather has very long arms that allow him to reach passes that others won’t. He has the hands to make spectacular interceptions. On the negative side: Meriweather played a nasty role in the Miami-Florida International melee and may have some behavioral issues.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18. Bengals Reggie Nelson FS 5-11 196 Florida
A big-time hitter who came into his own after a brilliant 2006 season with the national champion Gators. Nelson has the kind of instincts that could make him a top player at the position. He has the quickness to close on the ball and make big plays and throws his body around with abandon to stop the run. He also has the mindset to be an asset on special teams. The Bengals don’t want any players with character issues and Nelson appears to have a clean background.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

19. Titans Robert Meachem WR 6-2 215 Tennessee
Great size and speed combination for a team that needs a big-play guy. Meachem has the look and feel of a great deep threat and nobody will appreciate his talent more than Vince Young. He has long arms, gets deep in a hurry and extends well for the ball. He is strong enough to run through tackles. Needs some work on his ability to make plays in traffic.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

20. Giants Darrelle Revis CB 6-0 203 Pittsburgh
The Giants are hoping and praying that Revis will still be available with the 20th pick. A very skilled performer who excels in man-to-man coverage. Revis, who has great range and hands, plays his best against top competition. The Giants secondary rarely stopped anyone last year (28th in passing yards allowed) and Revis appears to be the right fit.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

21. Broncos Aaron Ross CB 6-1 193 Texas
The tragic death of Darrent Williams gives the Broncos an urgent need at this position, but even if that weren’t the case, Ross has too much athletic ability and upside to let pass. Ross was a gambling playmaker at Texas, but playing next to Champ Bailey could be a great learning experience. Filling this need becomes even more important if the trade for Dre Bly does not work out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

22. Cowboys Adam Carriker DE 6-6 294 Nebraska
He continues to climb the charts because he has excellent balance and quick hands that allow him to win the battle against bigger offensive linemen. Wade Phillips will know how to get the most out of him as an end in a 3-4. Excellent technique as a run stuffer and can also rush the passer. Can also drop back into coverage and cause havoc.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

23. Chiefs Dwayne Bowe WR 6-2 222 LSU
A big-time, big-game receiver who fills a huge hole for the Chiefs. Excellent size and strength and he uses those advantages to win the battle against smaller defensive backs. Has fine speed to run away from defenders and the power to break tackles. Very good-to-excellent hands. Not super quick off the line of scrimmage.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

24. Patriots(from Seattle) Chris Houston CB 5-10 186 Arkansas
A burner who has the skills to shut down the best receivers. Loves to be challenged and he’ll get that from Bill Belichick. Houston lacks size but knows how to set up bigger receivers with his extra burst. Terrific agility and athleticism allows him to stand apart from other cover men.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

25. Jets Greg Olsen TE 6-6 255 Miami
The Jets will have to be tempted to pull the trigger on a quarterback, but Chad Pennington should still has enough left in the tank and a tight end like Olsen will be able to help him out. In addition to being able to make the tough catch, Miller has top-end speed for the position. He could turn out to be a great rival to Giants TE Jeremy Shockey, another Miami product.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

26. Eagles Anthony Gonzalez WR 6-0 191 Ohio State
Donovan McNabb needs some weapons to work with and Gonzalez is a hard-working and skilled receiver who will help him quite a bit. Gonzalez is not necessarily a home run hitter, but he runs outstanding routes and has special hands. If the Eagles make the right move here and take Gonzalez, he’ll get plenty of action and should become a fan favorite among a group that is never easy to please.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

27. New Orleans Jamaal Anderson DE 6-6 286 Arkansas
It would be tough to find a player who improved as much through his college career as Anderson. The 2006 season was especially strong as he became a first-team All-SEC player with 47 tackles and 14.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage. The Saints are set on offense, but need all kinds of help on the defensive side.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

28. Patriots Craig Davis WR 6-1 202 LSU
An all-around football player who will block like a demon on plays when he doesn’t get the ball downfield. He is strong in the upper body and can get out of tackles. He wants the ball and has the speed to go deep. A bit head strong and wants to do it his way. That changes the instant he shakes hands with Bill Belichick.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

29. Ravens Lawrence Timmons OLB 601 235 Florida State
With the acquisition of Willis McGahee, the Ravens can turn their attention back to the defense. Timmons has all the athletic ability that scouts want and has the kind of quickness off the snap to cause impact plays. However, he will misdiagnose plays and overrun the ball from time to time. The loss of Adalius Thomas makes this a key fill for the Ravens.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

30. Chargers Ben Grubbs OG 6-3 310 Auburn
A hard working player who has shown improvement. Very strong and powerful and has learned to move his feet very well for a young interior lineman. He has powerful hands that can stun or redirect a pass rusher. This pick could be a great steal for Charger head coach Norv Turner.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

31. Bears Zach Miller TE 6-5 260 Arizona State
Despite their success last year, the Bears are still somewhat predictable on offense and Miller can help them out considerably. He is not a blazer, but knows how to get open and make the tough catch in traffic. Has the kind of desire that allows him to make the catch in the fourth quarter after he has been battered throughout the game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

32. Colts Anthony Spencer DE 6-3 264 Purdue
Strong upper body and very good straight-line speed. He has the kind of hands needed to fight through blocks and dominate against the run. Has shown significant improvement in his pass rush ability and has shown that early concerns about his work ethic are no longer an issue.

Pats will get Bowe. Plus, they are not taking that tool from Arkansas as he looks like a second rounder now.

Is Early Doucett in the draft too?
