Mis-use of Karma. Moderators - please read.

There was a post on here titled "Gear is 4 Queers". I left a posting remarking on how homophobic the title was and suggesting to the doctor who posted it that his attitude may prejuidce the way he treats his gay patients.

I have just noticed that someone has given me negative karma (unsigned) with the comment:

"burn in hell you god-damned faggot"

I don't think that the karma system was designed quite for this purpose or am I wrong?

BTW, Elitefitness has to be one of the most gay hating homophobic environments I have ever been in. Moderators seem uninterested in addressing this. If someone harassed people for being "niggers" I think the response would be different.

Some people are not comfortable with thier sexuality and take it out on people they are threatened by.
I used to be homophobic, untill one day after years of no sex I thought about having sex with a guy, really thought it through. Didn't find anything remotely appealing about it, and since then gay people have not bothered me. Perhaps others should think about this too instead of hating people in general because of what they are.

Why are you worried about negative karma. Who really gives a flying fuck if someone is so immature to send you a comment like that.

The title of the thread isn't towards gays. Hes using the word in a different way saying gear is for idoits and only used the word queer because it rhymes with gear.

I kind of agree, Caring about karma, or what a person said in a little message that was annonymous, instead of posting it to be discussed like a man with balls is stupid. Let the little chicken hide behind his "ooo" bad karma.

Well it may rhyme with gear and it may be used to describe an idiot, and yet it's meaning is clear. That is why is is so harrassing. If I called someone a dumb nigger and said it wasn't racist, I only used the term as a description of an idiot would that wash??? I don't think so.

Secondly, it's not the Karma issue. I used it as one example of the way abuse has come to me.

I cannot come onto this site without reading some post with guys talking about women or their heterosexual sex lives. Yet if I do so much as mention that I am gay I frequently get harrassing posts, PMs, or in the latest case a hateful message via karma.

What bugs me is the constant anti-gay comments made by people on this site. Far far FAR more than any other environment I visit. The public will be the public yet I do not see racist/anti-semetic remarks being accepted by the moderators.

I assure you this may seem trivial to you, but I find it intimidating. It is not every now an then - it is PERPETUAL. I don't see that this should continue to be accepted as normal because it is so ingrained in people that homopbic throw-away comments are considered normal.

I think it is only once you become a persecuted minority that you realise how important PC attitudes which appear trivial to others are.

This is a very good point. If I got a letter in the mail posted anonymously with the same message the police would take that seriously.

I have mentioned in the past that I find some of the anti-gay bullying that goes on here harassing. One thread where I was abused was in fact locked by a moderator, yet there is clearly no attempt being made to remedy this harrassment permanently.

If this was a workplace then there'd be serious consequences. I am curious to see if I get any decent reactions from the moderators. I have been visiting this site for about 2 years now, and nothing has changed.

I have a friend who works for gay activist lobby group here. He tells me that the USA has similar laws to NZ in terms of employers, service providers, etc. making environments free of harassment and intimidation be this based on sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

He says he will send me the contact details for some gay rights/anti-discrimination organisations in the USA who I can contact. I think they need to take a good look at elitefitness. The environment of this site is violating these laws, yet the "powers that be" seem uninterested in doing anything about it.

I am not going to put up with this any more. Enough is ENOUGH!

Gosh, I seem to have started a trend. I have received two further negative karma posts. One says "Geer (sp) is for queers". The other says that as a gay person I am "the plague of the world". At this rate I will have no positive karma left and will be evicted from this site for being the homo that I am.

All that I seem to have done to earn this "praise" is to state that I am gay and to not be appologetic for it.

Not everyone on this site are insecure cowards like the ones sending you the negative karma, there's a reason they are afraid to sign that shit!!
