As I have said in other threads, I'm facing open-heart surgery for replacement of the aortic valve. Here's kind an ironic picture my wife took, of me getting set up for an ultrasound of the heart when the problem was first being checked out, and before I knew what the diagnosis would be. I wonder how many people in the shape & age I am, have been on that table. Probably none.

Best of luck to you KX. You will be fine , then you can get back in the gym and be back in no time. Let us know if we can assist you .

yeah that is too bad. I can name a few positives if you want to hear a glasses half full perspective. for one you will allow your tendons and ligaments to recover (i sure could use that after hammering for 3 years straight with no stopping), and two you can get this issue out the way now and not later on when it will be even harder to come back.

remember the weight you gain will mostly be water and not real fat, especially if you keep tuning your diet, do the physical therapy and get the heart strong again..

muscle memory is a great thing.. and good luck

To add to this list, your recovery is going to be that much easier because you're starting out in shape.

Check in and let us know how you're doing every now and then!

Just let your sternum heal up from the separation and you'll probably be back to benching in six months. The recovery is all about the attitude. You seem like a motivated guy so you'll do better than OK.

Best wishes for you bro. Do your therapy and you will be g2g.
