Mecury in tuna

How safe is it too eat a can of tuna a day? I've read in a lot of places that it has high mecury levels.....

white albacore has more mercury than chunk light tuna.

I would'nt worry too much unless a woman is pregnant or if little kids were eating it.

the amount of mercury in canned tuna varies but it is really very minimal

fresh tuna is a bit higher if you eat fresh cut out the bloodline (very dark area)

i forgot what the study said but i believe you'd have to eat 4 cans of tuna a day for months before you to see any signs of mercury poisoning

signs are significant hair loss, headaches, dizziness, etc

I don't know if this is different for Canada, but our FDA claims that the mercury-content is not an issue for canned tuna because they only use a certain size (age) of fish for canning. I guess not enough has accumulated at that point to be a concern.

Fresh fish, different story. You have to watch out.

I was under the impression that as long as it wasn't albacore, it wasn't an issue AT ALL.

In fact I had a whole thread about this damnit.

I've been eating 2 cans of chunk light tuna at work each day right out of the can for a month.

Is it just albacore? Or is it ALL tuna?

im anywhere from 2-4 cans a day depending on how I feel like eating and I have been doing this for a while and no problems

if its a concern take garlic, its suppose to take mercury out of the body
