MCT v Coconut oil

I'm not sure you'd notice an enormous difference - since coconut oil contains MCT's anyway (not sure of the exact ratio). I personally LOVE the taste of extra-virgin coconut oil and I also like the fact that it doesn't need to be refrigerated (I can take it on the road with me). If you buy coconut oil, make sure it's extra-virgin - otherwise it won't taste the same. You can tell right away by the smell (e.g., if it doesn't have a rich coconut smell, it's not likely extra-virgin).

Is there any advantage to buying straight mct oil over coconut oil?

A lot of companies today use coconut oil as a base for MCT oil - that is where that god awful taste comes from. So, there is not much difference and they are substitutes. Think of it this way, I can have UDOs choice oil and call is UDOs choice, but really what's inside is flaxseed oil olive oil and MCT.

Thanks for the info guys. I am currently traveling and was having a hell of a time finding MCT, but I could find some extra virgin coconut oil.

Virgin coconut oil contains phytosterols - these are shown to reduce testosterone in rats (along with many other plant based oils) - take it with a grain of salt though.

Does the non virgin, fully processed variety contain phytosterols? Where else besides meat would be a good place to get MCT's?
