Matt Cassel is

soon to be traded for picks
providing ,gasp..... roster depth for years to come
Must be the cheating that's kept the patriots so competitive for 9 years now

how did this turn into a bullshit cheating thread. Matt isn't worth that money, except to the pats because he proved he can run that offense. Not Tom Brady, but a proven winner in my book.

There's nothing bullshit about it
Tom Brady may have had "insight" on where to throw the ball based on spying on the other teams defense. That to me should put an asterick (way worse then anything Barry Bonds did) on the success of the NE Patriots

And then Tom Brady torched the league for the best regular ever and took his team to the super and would have won if asaunt Samuel didn't biff on that gimme inteception.

I think they should keep Cassel and trade Brady.

That's the funny thing about sports. The game will catch up with every supposedly "new" thing. The NE Patriots started that season with Moss and Welker... Basically a run and shoot offense (ripped from June Jones / Atlants Falcons IMHO)
The game caught up with the Pats and by the end of the season they weren't beating everyone by 30 points.

So as far as them "ripping everyone in the regular", that wasn't happening at the end of the "regular" as you put it

wow, gjohnson i thought you were above this asterik espn propaganda crap. Especially when former coaches like Jimmi Johnson and B. Parcells said they did the same thing.
All they were in violation of was taping from a wrong area, taping a game or signals IS NOT ILLEGAL

PWNED

Bullshit...
N.F.L. policy prohibits videotaping opposing coaches giving signals.
Get your facts straight before making silly statements like PWNED

Glenn, I appreciate you thinking out side whatever. However, dude was phenomenal.BTW all the teams are doing the same basic thing.
This is the USA, we don't want values, integrity. We wanna win.
Australia, they would've hung some Patriots for this.

Either way, they kept Cassel?

KC would love to have him. Hell we would trade Larry Johnson... wait, no he sucks, never mind. KC is gonna be dismal for awhile.

you are allowed to tape anything you fvcking want, JUST NOT WHERE THEY WERE SITTING.
oh man

lions should trade picks for him

Cassel is not worth 2 first round picks. I would say that maybe 10 guys in the NFL are worth 2 first round picks. The Lions need a solid o and d line before they can even worry about the next franchise quarterback. Cassel would fall on his face in Detroit.

I bet, and I"m the first one that called it here.

He ends up in Kansas City with Former Arizona Offensive Coord.
Running the show.

Chiefs may pull a Miami/Atlanta.

He'll fetch a first and a 4th
or a 2nd and 3rd just my .02 cents

LOL@ Lambruh and peeps laughing at me at the end of the season when I said Cassel will probably land them a 1st rounder.

Pats don't want a top 5 pick, too much money to sign. They want more and more and more picks to add value and depth to their roster. Something most NFL teams have no concept of. They all want the SEK-C picks

You are 100% correct here my man! Cassel is a product of an excellent system, that is it! 2nd and 3rd rounder for him maybe. The Pats know how to build a winner through the draft and developing players based on their philosophy. It's not even so much about scheme as it is about players that mesh with the organization.

LMAO. Look at the Dolphins and Jake Long. Pretty good team without him and his huge salary.

Who the hell needs a rookie making $10 Million a year not counting a signing bonus.

Fug that...

Patriots got caught.
That is the mistake they made.
I mean I wonder why every single coach covers up his mouth when he calls in plays?
How many players are on gear?
How many traded players are called in to reveal past tendencies?
Patriots will dominate again with Brady.

This culture puts everyihing on the outcome and not the values.
Just sayin.
I'm sucked in too.

Dude , you don't have a clue what you're talking about

Though no disciplinary action by the league ever resulted, the Patriots last year were reportedly the impetus of a sternly written letter from the league office to all teams, reminding them that it was illegal for an advance scout or personnel official to bring a video recording device of any kind into the press box for the purposes of taping a potential opponent's signals or play-calling gestures from the sideline.

Teams have also been chastised for having a second camera in the press box-area video box, with one camera shooting the game action and the other one being trained on the opposing team's signal-givers. On offense, that's why coaches have taken to holding their play-calling charts in front of their mouths when they're sending in the play to the quarterback via the radio headset system.

"teams" meaning everyone was doing. They had just changed this rule in the 07 offseason, hence the reason the Patriots got sanctioned. However, to strip them of all they eanred by calling them cheaters is such a narrow minded thing to say. Where they wrong? Absolutely

oh man

if they didnt do anything wrong they wouldnt have been fined for it and wouldnt have lost a #1 pick. The patriots didnt even fight the punishment. They did cheat, whether other teams have done it or not dosent matter, they got caught. I dont get how you can deny or try to alter the truth.

They have tagged and traded before. I think it'll be either KC or Minnesota. Most likely a 1st and 3rd unless a player is involved.
Tony G wants to get outta KC, and the Pats haven't had a good TE since big Ben Coats.

I don't deny that they were violating the rules by taping from a different area than the guidelines permitted, guidlines that were changed THAT offseason and it was the first game of the year.
it was more like one of those, "they are not gonna enforce this one, but Mangini knew by being inside the orginization and snitched

Your information is still broken on this subject
The guidelines did not change...
A memo was sent out to the teams during the off season of what the rules are... There was no change

Patriots under investigation for following rules, guidelines violations ...
1. Page 105 of the Game Operations manual says: "No video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game." It later says: "All video shooting locations must be enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead."

2. And, a memo from Ray Anderson, NFL head of football operations, to head coaches and GMs on Sept. 6, 2006 said: "Video taping of any type, including but not limited to taping of an opponent’s offensive or defensive signals, is prohibited on the sidelines, in the coaches’ booth, in the locker room, or at any other locations accessible to club staff members during the game."

Please stop arguing misinformation
