This is a very informative thread.
Endpoint I dislocated my knee in december and I was interested in knowing what you did for recovery. By the way I dislocated training in martial arts. I still have some pain every day and the quad muscle is still atrophied compared to my good leg. I can still squat and deadlift just not as much.
Juice, I would be interested in that brace as well. Do you think it would hurt your partner when sparring since it has a hinge? I feel alot of pain when kneeling on a mat so perhaps with the brace I should be ok. Thanks.
 
Hell i went to class with Mark Kerr (his name on this board) about 2 yrs ago and rolled with roger , did drill s with kevin, practice side mounts with barefoot, and then at the end of the night i rang my shirt out with all my sweat, and then ross says hey jay roll with pete (kevins bro) i was so tired i could barely hold my arms up, but couldnt say no. So needless to say though i didnt get tapped i almost passed out from extreme exhaustion i got slammed on my back, and dont remember when but i hurt my shoulder and couldnt bench for 3 weeks. Its not worth it to a powerlifter. I mean i can bust ass period. In bars you dont go to the ground. In tapouts field of work it very handy for him. If you tap me out you will have to from your back. Because i am gound and pound baby! I have what they call a punchers chance. Beacuse as far back as i can remeber i have been able to pop a lick like a mule. And am a good enough wrestler to beat normal gym people or bar people. Not good enough to beat the jujitisu guys though. Tapou twas right it is the best art out there. And how i said you will have to tap me ou tfrom your back...well they will! They will go to there back. When you do somehting as much as them, it is second nature.

Ya knwo as i write this TAPOUT, this is for you. When i lived by Mark kerr i would grapple with him in his garage and i could stay righ tover him until i was tired and went for some bizarre little ankle lock. Not my style. Since were not punching, my way is the neck or arm. I amtoo big (even then ) to be falling back for an ankle. But even though he had a brown belt i would only get tapped when i felt liek i was over. Which out of 10 times that was about 3 of them. Other then that we would just stop. We would grapple rest grapple rest. Talk about cardio. I think i will grapple one more time...with you. Number 1 i think deep down you want to . Number 2 i have nothing to lose. I knwo your not only a better grappler but way better. But i can wrestle and am far stronger then anyone you will have faced. So one day i will come over just me and you. Cause i aint wrestling everyone. Dont want too. Some new guy might get my arm and get carried away and break it. I dont need a manslaughter charge right now! So me and you on your mats and i will give you evry ounce of pure rage i got (you will be very lucky there will be no punches) and see whatyou do with it. I have tons of rage and this might be good for me. We'll talk about it in person. But i have been wanting to test my strength and see what i can do now. My tech nique is gone for good but i my balance and fuckin freak strenght is still here! YOu want some ? come get some?

I love tapout he is one of my best friends! Thats the only reason i can talk to him like this! Now he is gonna school me!
 
i dont think any one can school you jay-- when you find that demon and all that rage inside when the reaper shows you are scarry.
we better take a couple of b/c s first with the size and power we have we will be sure to be sore

technique is very important and it is what eventually wins---but when some one is super human strong like JAY STEEL(the new super hero-- watch for life like dolls of him in stores nearest you) it is hard to get some thing even though i have a lot of technique and am very strong compared to average ju jitsu fighter I know I will have to tire jay out to get him in some thing---it will be a long night ----but i wont make a date.

and just for the record out of all the people i've ever rolled with(exept for my instructors david,ross,marcos and a guy from brazil who trains in orlando who i have never tapped)I have tapped them all at least once except for jay--i have never tapped him as he left before i got good and i think the last time we rolled at Kennys he ran out of gas before a tap.SO YES I DO WANT TO TAP JAY 1 X HE WAS ALWAYS A GOAL FOR ME BUT I KNOW IT WONT BE EASY.
 
after reading let me clarify-----my instructors i have never tapped ross david and marcus----came close a couple of times but no cigar
 
JAY: is that mark kerr as in the MARK KERR (UFC heavyweight)?
if so how strong is he at resistance training?

shadowruler: i did alot of single leg squats. every one says a strong VMO (innerquad) is the best way to recovery. This is a very good exercise for joint stabalization. If it is too hard do them with a stability ball against your back (on a wall)

Juice Junkie: I Have seen those here in australia at a chemist. Not to expensive either. I think my knee is pretty much healed.......just paranoid...very paranoid.



I am going to see a BJJ training session on saturday and will see how it looks.

If it looks like it will interfere with my powerlifting progress or my knee i will not get involved.

maybe all i need is some bag work once a week in the garage?
I need to bring up my non existant punching skills
