Making FINA, have a question

Alright here goes,

I was at the first stage of my FINA making process, I did not crush the pellets, everything was going good, I let them sit for about 50mins surrounded by hot water to speed up the process. The solution was a dark gold/maroon colour

With just a few small chunks left I decided to throw it in the microwave for 25 seconds to finish off the last parts. After doing this it turned a shit brown colour.

I added my oil and shook and let sit. It is now three hours and there is not much change in the solution, there is a 1/2 centimetre gold layer around the top. The rest is still Shit brown

I know it can take up to 5+ hours to seperate. Any suggestions, did possibly the fina oxidate when I put in the microwave, Or should I just wait longer. Suggestions are appreciated

ALWAYS crush the pellets. 25 seconds in the cutting soltuion is way to long.....it must have been boiling. Im not sure if it was enough to destroy your project but, in the future, crush your pellets and take your time. The outcome will be much more favorable------The Freak

You don't have to crush the pellets if you buy a kit and have solvent.

Buy a heat free kit bro. They work the best ! You can email me for the url.

I don't know who's kit you bought, but you're supposed to add the oil and let it sit a minimum of two hours or overnight before heating. Shaking the solution will only introduce air, the result of which is oxidation and a resulting "shit brown" color. I don't think it will effect the final product, however.
