What up brothas? Just wanted to let you guys know that I place 3rd in the open heavy weight class in the Orange County Muscle Classic on Saturday, the 23rd. I'll try to post some pics now, but if you can't see them let me know how to do it correctly. Excuse my ignorance with computers. They're not my thing...

Good job bro. Looking cut as hell.

Awesome job bro... look soo cut! your back is awesome! what was your weight going in? and your height if u dont mind?
i love seeing contest pics!

Very tight bro. How many shows have you done? What is your height and what weight did you come in at. I'm shooting for heavy weights myself in 5 weeks and I'm already lighter then I want so now it is just trying to get as shredded as possible. I'm 5'11 and currently 222. I was hoping to come in around 220 but it will probbaly be closer to 215.

like everyone else said good job, and awesome back

You look awesome bro! That gets me stoked for my show. How many shows have you done? It takes a while to get that kind of conditioning. Keep it up bro, you got me fired up!

Thanks for all the replies and support bros. My weight was all over the place and I was freaked out that I would drop into the light heavies. I'm 6' so that would be suicide! I was 217 a week out. Then before my carb up I was 204! After carbing for 3 days and dropping water I weighed in at a bone dry 199 lbs! :worried: Just making the heavy weight class. I got a lot of great feedback from other BB's in the show and people in the audience. They said the only thing that stopped me from winning the class was size. I had them beat on symmetry, shape, proportion, and conditioning where I was the hardest guy in the class and possibly the show. So now it's time to put on big size... ;)

Now that's what I'm talking about! Great condition, I'm sure you are jacked about doing so well, you deserve it. Congrats from DBBT

I have been to a bunch of shows. The guys are right. Your conditioning is great! Your back really stands out in the department. Keep it up!

I feel your pain. I was 224 when I started carb depleting, 3 days later I was 217. The transformation in those few days is incredible though. As a bodybuilder you are always concerned about size, those last few days are tough mentally when you know you are flattening out. Looks like you nailed it though!

Thanks again guys. Yeah, I nailed everything this time. Besides my weight dropping so much, but it didn't seem to hurt my placing. I was the lightest guy in the class. There were 10 competitors, so it was a good feeling to be that light and still place that high. Says a lot about my shape, symmetry, and conditioning. This was my 4th show. I hadn't competed for 5 years though. I took time off because I needed to put on size and I wanted to make sure that I could put everything into it. I won't do anything unless I can give 110%.

congradulations bro, you look sick, like everyone else mentioned, your back looks incredible. Id like to see how you approached your last week.

Thanks. At about 10 days I start lowering my carbs to half of the usual amount. At 1 week out I'll only eat 25 g before training and 25 after training. Then on Wed before the show I'll do a whole body depletion workout which takes about 2 hours! :worried: It sucks, but it's necessary to supercompensate. Then I start the carb load ala BodyOpus style for the next 48-72 hours, carefully monitoring how I'm filling out and if I'm holding water. The funny thing was it that I actually kept getting harder the longer I ate carbs. I ate 1200 grams the first 24 hours, 800 the next 24, and another 800 the next 24! Yes, even will all those carbs I didn't hold any water. I just filled out. Nailing the carb load really made the difference b/w being a HW and dropping into the LHW's.
As for water I drank up to 6 gallons a day until Friday. On Friday I drank 1 gallon before 5 P.M. Then dropped my water with a diuretic and held my conditioning until pre judging.

Yeah it is pretty crazy. Everyone is slightly different though. You need to know what carbs work for you, how much water you can drink, how easily you drop water. Thankfully I've been experimenting with carb loading techniques for the last 5 years since my last show, so I know exactly how to do it with most people.

Looking sharp man!!!!

Wow Makavelli! You're hella sharp!! You're an inspiration - keep up the good work! ps thanks for the help in the other threads!

Thanks. No problem. I'm here to help.

Machine, for the first 24 hours I use sugar instant oatmeal such as brown sugar and maple and Vitargo(yes, the one with creatine in it). I load with creatine the whole day. I'll take in about 30 grams immediately after the depletion workout, then 10 g's from the Vitargo throughout the day. I probably take in about 100 grams of creatine! Contrary to popular belief, creatine doesn't cause you to hold water under the skin, just in the muscle where you want it.
Then I'll switch to old fashioned oatmeal and rice cakes for the next 24 hours with Vitargo thrown in every 3rd meal. Depending on how bloated the oatmeal is making me, I'll switch to just rice cakes.
The last 24 hours is yams and rice cakes along with all natural peanut butter.

For protein in the first 24 hours I use whey isolate. The 2nd 24 hours I'll alternate b/w 4 oz. chicken and whey isolate. The last 24 hours it's 4 oz. chicken with every meal.

I also use 10 g of glutamine peptides with every meal while loading.

Hope that helps! ;)

Thanks bro. I appreciate it. I'll try to post some more pics of my front lat spread and side Tri. My tri's were striated all the way up down the 3 heads! It looked sick. I have to go through some pics to find it though.

Sure guys here's my cycle:

Weeks 1-12: 1 Gram of Ent.
Weeks 1-16-600 mgs of EQ
Weeks 1-6-50 mgs/day D-Bol
Weeks 9-16-75 mgs/day Tren Acetate
Weeks 9-16-70 mgs/day Winstrol
Weeks 13-16-40 mgs/day Anavar
Weeks 1-8-25 mgs/day Proviron
Weeks 9-12-50 mgs/day Proviron
Weeks 13-16-100 mgs/day Proviron
Weeks 1-16-20 mgs/day Nolvadex
Weeks 1-14-.5 mgs/day of Arimidex
Weeks 15-16-1 mg/day of Arimidex

I was using suspension for a week after I stopped the ent at 100 mgs/day. I had to cut it out due to excessive swelling. T3 was also used working my way up to 100 mcgs/day. Clen was run 2 weeks on/2 off working my way up to 200 mcgs/day.

I'm not going to post my diet because it changed so often. I will say that I follow a carb cycling program where I'll have low carb days, very low carb days, and a very high carb day once every 6-12 days depending on how I look. My calories started off at about 3500 and ended up at about 2900. I eat high protein, mod fat, and cycle the carbs as stated above. All my carbs are low GI, just old fashioned oatmeal and yams.

Enjoy! ;)

Thanks. I was about 3%. That's the leanest I've ever been. It was hard, but well worth it... ;)

definitely looked great bro, especially in the back(where I suck the most ass). A few other areas that if you can bring up to match your back, and you'll definitely see first place next time

Thanks bro. I need to add lots of size all over, but mainly my legs and calves. My calves suck! Well, everyone has their weak bodypart...

Very impressive man. It has been said over and over, but your back is shredded. Congrats on your show, I bet you feel good about all the hard work now.

very true, mine was my back and shoulders, after pounding it for almost 2 years since that show, they are way better, but still not up to par with everything else. If this wasnt the case, bodybuilding would be easy

Yeah, the fun in bodybuilding is the fight, the struggle to do what nature doesn't want you to do, and then winning!

Thanks again for the replies and compliments. It makes it all worth it... ;)

Thanks bro. I chose that show because it's one of the hardest national qualifiers in the country. I wanted to see how I held up against that quality of competition and what kind of potential I have for the future. I'm very happy with it to say the least... ;)

look great bro. Im surprised that your quads did not tighten up as good as your glutes and hams. Good job though!

Actually bro the lighting at the show wasn't that great. My glutes were totally striated as well as my quads. I had striations in my teardrops even! :worried: . I'll try to find some pics that show it better, but I'm pissed it didn't show up in these pics. I should have taken some in the hotel room on Saturday morning. The light was better there than on stage.

good job....figured id chime in...dont wanna be the only one leaving you hanging...but seriously...looking great..keep up the good work...

you look sick bro!

Congratulations again and keep it up, I know you're psyched and can't wait to go at it again...

Wish I had your dedication!

Truely an inspiration Mak! If i ever get out of this blackout, I'll be like a sponge on here soaking up all your tips and info....good job!

Nice job! Your back looks awesome. You must do some serious Deadlifts. You put on another 15-20lbs and come in with that conditioning, look out!

Thanks guys. I do deadlift, but not all the time. Deads place an enormous amount of stress on the lower back and it's more important for me to be able to squat every week, than dead. My back workouts are based on heavy rowing. BB's, DB's, hammer rows. I only do one pull down movement. Obviously genetically my back responds to almost anything, but I get the most out of rowing.

From the feedback that I've gotten, I plan on taking the next 1 1/2 to 2 years to put on as much size as possible and then compete as a super heavy in late 2006, or most likely 2007. Hopefully I can qualify for nationals and see what I can do.

Well, I'm late to the party, but Congrats. I gotta say, I expected a result like this though. You got the knowledge and the drive, plus your a good bro who is always ready to help out others, so bottomline is you deserve it. Putting on size is the best phase IMO. Enjoy the accolades bro and get back to eating again.

Thanks brotha! I'm looking forward to adding the size. Right now I'm preventing the post show fat rebound by eating clean still doing cardio. After my LPL levels stabilize and my body resets itself I'll start up my bulking cycle. I'll keep you guys posted on that. I love to eat, so eating lots of cals has never been a problem for me... ;)

JKurz1 said:
what was your bulking and 6 weeks out diet like?

I eat the same foods whether I'm bulking or dieting. The only thing that changes is the amount of carbs that I eat. I posted my diet philosphy in this thread on the second or third page. During pre contest diets my diet changes based on what's going on, so I don't have a cookie cutter outline of it. I can tell you that I eat high protein, mod fat, and cycle my carbs b/w low, very low, and high days.

So for bulking I'll eat steak, chicken, whey, casein, flax oil, natural peanut butter, old fashioned oatmeal, and yams. For dieting I'll eat the same, but a lot less carbs.

I'd also like to add that I don't let my bodyfat get too high off season. Before I started my pre contest diet I was about 12% and that was high for me. I'm normally b/w 8-10%. So I felt very fat at that BF%. I really feel that doing cardio year round and staying relatively lean is the key. You don't need to put on tons of fat to gain muscle. You really only need to eat slightly above maintenance.

I agree totally, it takes a lot more discipline to stay tight all year, but you feel and look better. I'll be starting my pre-contest diet with my BF under 10%. It will be so much easier than coming down from 250 +. Most people use the off-season thing as an excuse to get sloppy as hell.

Maka,

How old are you?

29. I tried the get fat and huge thing in the offseason and it didn't work for me. So now I just eat clean and enough to gain during bulking, but not getting sloppy. It's much easier and it's nice to look decent year round, instead of like a fat slob, then on one day like a BB.

I did the same thing. I felt like hell. My blood sugar was all over the map, my blood pressure was high. I was winded all the time, I got light headed and hypoglycemic. I hated it. I won't do it again. The problem is that I have a fast metabolism, it's hard to put on weight. Better slow and steady with quality weight than just weight at any cost though.

i need to stay more lean after my first competition this september... i am going to try... try to stay around 7-8%. its soo easy to get sloppy... and i look awful at this higher bf... but diet starts in a few months and cardio starts in a few weeks

That's right. I have a fast metabolism too, but I have an even higher appetite, which makes for some interesting all you can eat sushi binges at the restaurants... ;)
