Major f-ing back problem now!!

Think I may have a pinched nerve or something. Anybody with experience with this shit? Sharp, stabbing, constant pain in my lower back (very low around the ass). Hurts to sit. Kills to get up out of a chair. Standing isn't too bad. I have given it 3 days and it hasn't improved much. Don't want to waste any time if the doc may be able to do something, but also don't want to waste 8 hours in the ER. I know, "go to the doctor, retard". FUCK

Been through the exact same thing. Best bet would be to go to a doc. I was the same way though, and when I went it turned out to be a sprained ligament. Im guessing you did it doing deads or something similar. Any way the dock had me avoid bending over for a bout a week lifting for a month and gave me some anti inflamatorys for the pain. But like I said, better go to a doc. You never know, it could be something really serious. Good Luck.

you see a doc or just let it ride? how much pain? cause I'm wincing every time I move.

Go to the doctor you har headed fucktard. It could be anything from a simple nerve pinch to a pulled muscle to a torn tendon or ligament. Call an appointment with you doc since you don't want to go to the ER and go see him. I don't want this as an excuse for you getting you ass kicked in next years pulling contest, you big pussy.

Done and done. Appt tomorrow morning. Gotta get my acting skills up to par so I can get the big pain pills. And trust me, O'ConneryMcSkirten, no injury in thr world could keep me from pulling you around like a ragdoll.

killah, you're a hard headed fucktard.
but thats besides the point.

i had a severely sprained sacral joint last year. thats at the base of your spine.
anti inflammatories worked wonders- i took vioxx which you obviously can't take, but you can take naprocin, its aleve in the over the counter form. you can take 2 or 3. You should go to a doc, but i continue to have back problems, both from the sprain, genetics, and my heavy knockers, which i don't think you have.
stretching helps a lot but don't do that till you feel better.
take some anti inflamatories and go to a doc and if he gives you vicodin, send them to me.

I'll bet $50 or you copay that they give you an X-ray rx,
NSAIDS and tell you to take it easy..

I've had these back strains last over a week before they feel better.

Better safe than sorry i guess..

that's what I expect. but it's worth it. I made the mistake of waiting for my shoulder to heal on its own and it cost me time.

Ive been plagued with back problems in the past and agree with all,..."SEE THE FUCKIN' DOC!!" Orthopedic Surgeon if ya could!!

Till then, ice for 15 minutes. Heat may not be a good idea right now till ya find out whats wrong!!

Yea KB.. Seeing the Dr especially if this is the first time you have
had pain in this area is a good idea.

I have chronic issues on the same spot and I know it will flare up a couple
times a year and I simply deal...

Good luck

could be a few things but if the pain does not radiate dowen to your thigh or back of calf it is porbably not a pinched nerve. Most like if the pain is just in the region of your ass it could be two thing. SI sprain or iliolumbar sprain. And xray is not really gonna tell you that directly since you cannot see ligament well on Xray. Most likely they will give3 you anti and say don't lift for a while. The real problem is the form you had to cause that much torque on the SI joint or your lower lumbar.....

Good first smart thing you may have ever done.

Now those are some big words there my man you're gonna make train extra hard and try to come in around 320 or so to get all the advantage I can.

I think it was more of the stupid ass program I tried out for 2 weeks. Put way too much stress on the lower back. I know my body pretty well by now and I know my recovery time - I made a stupid decision by pushing myself. I like to think that my form is excellent (because of my torn rot cuff, all I could do was lift light and pay attention to form for months...).

just let it ride. it hurt to go from a seated position to standing so bad that all i did was sit on the couch and not move the whole time it hurt.

Update:

Doc was cool. Said it was probably just a pulled muscle and spasms. It's just a big difference in pulling a back muscle vs. another muscle cause you use your back for everything. Stay out of the gym for a week or two. Take these anti-inflams. Take these muscle relaxers (:)).

You should get yourself some stretching exercises to tack onto the end of your workout for a few months. Last thing you want is a recurrance which can turn into a long-term problem. When mine was bad I also used an ice-pack wrapped in cloth every couple of hours for ten minutes. Massage almost always helps too and try to walk a lot as soon as you're able. If you have no-one to give you massage then you can use a tennis ball up against a wall but be gentle with yourself :) .

Oh wow, I forgot to recommend the book to you, KillahBee.

Try the book called Core Performance by Mark Verstegen. I'm sure it can help with being more functional and preventing injury.

Secondly, check out the Egoscue method (Debaser recommended this to me) to make sure you have a neutral pelvis. Keep proper posture at all times (shoulders back and down, stomach in, head up).

Third - use a foam roller if you have one or have access. That, along with proper stretches will keep you well.

Bitchtits? Is that really the best you can come up with twinke toes. Wait for those relaxers to deflate your sally muscle, then man up and hit me with a proper insult. Sweet Boy.

And that is why you do NOT see a doctor for these problems.

Get the book Pain Free by Pete Egoscue. Perhaps Core Performance as well, though the first book is more important right now. Also look for A.R.T. therapists in your area.

Since it hurts like hell to stand up from a seated position it could be the quadratus lumborum.

The problem sounds like muscle imbalance and tightness due to dysfunctional posture.

Glad to hear it's not that bad, KillahBee

I second that with the Egoscue stuff. I got two of their "web menus" so far and they've helped me improve my posture dramatically. It also helps me with just about every annoying pain I have.
