Lynn,

That's good you're tapering..
I don't know how many calories you're getting, but initially when one's metabolism starts working faster, we tend to be more hungry, however that will subside. Eating more will increase metabolic performance, but it doesn't mean more and more food. Show restrain at some point.
Good job, however!

I dont know either but probably not enough (just guessing) I could be wrong but i'm hungry alot so i'm basing it on that.
I totally screwed up this morning. argh.
meal 1: 2 eggs (just one yolk) and a chocolate frosted yeast doughnut. ARGGGG! I was gonna eat oatmeal and hubby brought home doughnuts from local bakery...oh gosh i couldn't resist. Funny thing i noticed i didn't get the weird feelings i ususally do after eating that much sugar though. I ususally get a rush and then crash and sleepy. But didn't really affect me. I don't know if that's good or bad.lol
But I'm not gonna let that stop me. I thought , hey next time i feel like eating something i should'nt i should take my clothes off and eat it in the bedroom, lol then once i get a look at my icky fat jiggles i prolly will put it back.LOL

Sorry, I retyped my statement above since I didn't finished it. Lol!
Increased calories will increase your metabolic rate, but is IS NORMAL to be more hungry for the first couple of weeks. so, don't eat a meal just because you're hungry. That said, I don't know how many calories you're consuming.

Just three meals a day? I struggle with so few.
I need to create a journal like this. It would really help me keep my head on strait and my diet in order.

sorry haven't been posting, been really busy.
Today
meal 1: 2 eggs (1yolk)
1/3 c. oats, coffee
meal 2: tuna salad ( i use reg mayo, not gonna freak out about fats and i didn't use that much) with mustard and egg. probably 1/2 c or more on a tortilla shell. Unfortunately u girls can't go to the grocery with me so i had to chose one on my own. heres the low down: brand: Tam-x-icos , 100 % stone ground whole wheat. cal: 120, fat: 2.5 transfat: 0, sodium: 280, carb: 20, fiber: 3 , sugar:1, protein: 3
It says it has flax in it also. I thought they looked healthy so I ate my tuna salad in it and will use these when i need a slice of bread. I felt satisfied until dinner which shocked me.
meal 3: granny smith apple(small) 2 tsp anpb, water
will post the rest later, thought i'd better do this now while fresh in my mind.

oh yeah, and the weekend was , well it SUCKED! I was sorta good but mostly bad bad bad. :(
I just needed to get that off my chest. I felt crappy too.
I can really see a difference in how I feel when i'm eating clean and that is awesome and will help when I'm trying to break these lifelong bad habits.

It is going to be a process of changing your eating habits, it isn't going to happen overnight.

It is awesome you are breaking unhealthy lifelong habits.

These are my suggestions and what I think might be going on

1. Count your calories, protein etc. I have the sneaky suspicion you are not eating enough, which is fine for a jump start or a short period of time, but in the long term it will slow fat loss and also have you more prone to binging.

2. Plan a cheat meal once a week. Make it your last meal of the day so you don't continue to cheat all day if it sets off all those hormonal hungers. It is one thing to eat healthy, it is another thing to think that you can't ever eat all the foods you used to love for the rest of your life.

This isn't just psychological, it is also physiological, increasing calories once a week may offset any metabolic slowdown from dieting too hard.

3. I would add in two more meals/snacks. For example, you apple and peanut butter is more of a snack. I also recommend eating loads of veggies, especially the fibrous ones like brocolli and cauliflower, they really fill you up and are full of all sorts of micronutrients.

When I am really struggling with cheating on my meal plan I try to break it down as simple as possible. If I make it 8 days without cheating I make sure next time I make it at least 9 days. I keep extending the amount of time. After a few weeks the time I go without cheating really stretches out and the results start coming a lot quicker.

:) Yeah i know it isn't going to happen overnight. I've been struggling for a looooooong time. I get it in my head once i cheat i may as well have this doughnut or that order of fries and get it out of my system. It is really hard to stop once i start and a very hard habit to break.
I know i need to start using fitday. Then i'll know if i'm meeting the mark.
Thanks slat for the tip, that's a really good idea.
It's funny, you want something sooo badly but yet it's so hard *for me* to just NOT eat this or that thing that i know will prevent my success. When it shouldn't be so hard. I mean I am in control of my body, why won't I do what my head and heart tell me to do so I can get where i want to be. Why do I always prevent it. It's verry frustrating and makes me :redhot:
today: 2 eggs(1 yolk) 1/3 c. oats, coffee, meal 2: soft taco (like the one ihad last time) diet soda

I am struggling right now too. I am so stressed out from my job it is making me crazy. I have a few other side ventures that are taking up my time too. I am working 13 hour days and still trying to fit the gym in. Lately, all I do is sleep when I have a free moment.
I too want to get in shape BAD! I find for some reason I undermine my own success. Right when I make good progress I set my self up for a cheat meal or something and don't see it coming.
We just have to keep pushing. Nothing in life that we really want comes easy. Once we get where we want we have to make sure to enjoy it too. I used to think I was fat and now I look back and think I was crazy.
Enjoy the journey. You are changing your lifestyle. Its not easy. The results will be worth it. Every day you stick to your meal plan take a moment and realize what you are accomplishing... its pretty cool!

Its like anything else. You're on it and fall off the wagon. Hop on it and fall off again. The idea, however is to go back as soon as possible, because the longer you'll be off your new path, the more difficult it will be to go back.

Don't beat yourself over it, it's normal what you're going through. The fact that you want to be on track is a good sign..

If eating a cheat meal or food is having you fall off the wagon and stay off longer than you like then you may want to avoid those foods that do that, go longer between cheats, two weeks or slat's suggestion, or seek out 'healthy cheats', for example finding some swirly hippy health food replacement that doesn't have sugar, wheat etc.

These health food cheats are not always health foods per say, but they are great transition foods, for example, no sugar but maple syrup, honey, or agave syrup.

Hey :D

I'm still alive, sorry i've been so busy I haven't even thought about posting.
No I haven't been totally on the wagon but I am still at it. Got myself a good pair of shoes to walk on the treadmill and outdoors. I never realized there was so much involved with shoes until doing some recent research. I have been having more foot pain and hated the tennis shoes I was wearing. I have flat feet so I got a shoe to help with overpronating *didn't know there was such a thing* they're brooks and I like them alot. So I won't have the foot pain to detour me from walking.
Running will probably not happen, have never been a runner and my knees give me some grief anyway. I will just walk on a veryhigh incline on the mill.
I got a bag of longgrain brown rice today and some flax seed also. Would like to incorporate the flax in mydiet but not sure how much and what to eat on.
My daughter and I are going to try putting together the little home gym(bench )tomorrow. My hubby keeps forgetting and he wants to set it up in the garage and I DONT want it out there. yech! I am going to put it in our room and he's just gonna have to get over it.

Sounds like you are on the right track. You can put the flax meal (ground up seed) in anything. Sprinkling it on oatmeal or putting it in my protein shakes is my favorite.

You know you are in trouble when you start putting laundry on your bench! LOL, so keep an eye out.
