Low natural testosterone in Women

Realgains

New member
Women do produce testosterone but only a fraction of what a man produces. This small amount is VERY important for optimal bodily functioning.
I recommend a book entitled "Natural Hormone replacement for Women" by Dr. Uzzi Reiss

SYMPTOMS OF LOW TEST

There are many but I will list a few of the more common ones.
loss of sexual desire
reduced sensitivity of the clit and nipples
General fatigue
Little stamina
difficulty loosing weight inspite of an exercise plan and reduced caloric intake
loss of hair
indecisivness
loss of coordination and balance
poor muscle tone anfd flabbiness
muscle weakness

WHO GETS IT

Mostly post menopausal women but it is not that uncommon in young women

BENEFITS OF PROPER TEST BALANCE

Stamina
stronger muscles with tone
less body fat and easier time loosing fat
stronger bones
feelings of security, positivity and stability
protection against arterial plaque build up
Improved balance and hand/eye coordination
Increased sexual desire
Increased enjoyment of sex

WHO SHOULD TAKE TESTOSTERONE SUPPLEMENTATION

Any women with a total test levels below 30ng/dl that has symtoms of test defeciency. Normal range is typically betwen 30-80ng/dl. Some ladies that are less hairy may have normal test levels from 20-40 but the more muscular and hairy female usually has a higher test level 75-100

Just because your test level falls in the normal range does not mean that you could not benefit from test replacement therapy. Each persons needs are different. If you have the classic signs of defeciency them you probably need test replacement.

HOW TO TAKE TEST

The best way to take test for a women is through tiny pellet implants. This gives a constant even low dose of test over many months. Unfortunately these implants are not available in the uSA or Canada.

Test injections can be used but they can easily cause test levels to climb too high and cause virilization in the long run. I think this is because the injections are usually given only once every two weeks at the most and at doses of 50mg per shot. This will cause a high spike in blood hormone levels and then it will almost clear by the end of the two weeks. I am certain that a better way to take the injections would be to inject tiny amounts very frequently, and measured in an insulin syringe for accuracy. A good start would be to inject 5mg of test cyp every 5 days or so with a tiny 27 gauge needle(no pain) It is very important that you follow up the injections with lab work to determine if you are taking the correct amount. You really don't want to be above the high range of normal for months on end as sides will most certainly come on eventually.

There is a patch being developed for women as we speak but curently the best modality in North America is to use 2-4% test gel. The gel is usually applied in small amounts to the inner thighs and or the perineal region.

NATURAL TEST
The doc that wrote the book insists that one use natural test, that is test that is identicle to the test you produce. Some preperations like Methyl test pills are not pure natural testosterone. These pills are certainly liver toxic if used long term as well.

You can get the gel at "compounding Pharmacies"

As a side he also insists that one use natural estrogen and progesterone if you decide to use these in the future. He says premarin is toxic as it contains way too many different estrogens for the uterus of pregnant horses. Hormone therapy that dose not use ONLY natural hormones will cause disease eventually as a very recent study has made clear.

USING TEST FOR SPECIAL AFFECTS

In the book mentioned above several women increase their daily dose at specific times for certain reasons ie: an anticipated very stressful day, before workouts and before sporting competition and before having sex. Some increase the daily dose by three fold! They all stop the test use for a number of days after this so androgen levels do not build up too high . This is recommended by the doctor. When his patients do not do this they have always ended up with some virilization , most commonly a little facial hair growth.
This backs up the dosing practise for female BBers recommended by Bill llewellyn and Bill Roberts. They suggest that a female dose androgens less frequently then men to allow for some of the androgen to clear the system before the next dose. You see it is not only higher levels of androgen that may cause sides but also the time the androgen has to act in the body.

HOW TO REALLY IMPROVE SEX

If one manually stimulates the clit for a few minutes to get blood to the region and then applies a little gel this can, in time, really improve sensitivity. It can also improve the quality of oragsm, and make one multi-orgasmic as well.

About 20% of females cannot reach orgasm without manual clit stimulation during sex. A full one third of the docs patients that required this manual stimulation have been able to reach orgasm strictly vaginally after using test gel in this way.

Hope this helps a few ladies.

Good information. Thanks.

Just a few questions....

How do you get your test levels checked?

Is it easy to ask a Doc to test for low Test levels? (meaning, do they usually give you a hard time about it)

What does the test entail - blood work? Urine?

If the results came back indicating a low Test level, *on average* how much does supplementation cost?

Thanks.... :)

Thanks for the info. I'm assuming by your reply that most Doc's won't do tests for Test levels in women? Or they'll give you a hard time about it? Why - what is their rationale for not wanting to do the test? Is is expensive?

I would just like to emphasize the importance of having low test levels confirmed by your doc rather than just going by the list of symptoms. That list of symptoms could also be caused by other hormonal imbalances, obesity, vitamin or mineral deficiencys, as well as just not getting enough overall calories or rest.....In women in western societys the latter are prolly a lot more common given many of the poor diet and lifestyle choices followed.

Very good point that I really didn't cover.
ie: Being hypothyroid since age 12 I know that a lot of the symptoms of low test are the same as the symptoms of hypothyroidism and hypothyroidism is at least as common in women as low test levels.

My wifes test levels is normal at 28, but its on the low side, and she has symptoms so our endochrinologist says that she should try the gel BUT her sister has a level of 25 and has no symptoms. Even though she has no smptoms she finds that a prudent use of the gel helps her a lot during her triathalon competitions and a hour before having sexual relations. She is also an example of a women that became vaginally orgasmic for the very first time with gel use to the clitoris.

Some docs "poo poo it" simply becasue they are not on top of things.....most docs, especially female docs, will have no problems with testing your test levels.

Okay, I'm doing some reasearch and there are medical testing labs in my area. They do all kinds of drug, blood tests. I see they have different kinds of tests for Test levels. Free, % Free and Bioavailable. Which one(s) should I be interested in?

Additionally, thinking about getting my thyroid checked too. What am I looking for in that test?

Thanks for the info!
