Low carb diet help

OK. Here is a challenge question for the diet experts out there. About nine months ago my doctor put me on a low-carb diet to get my cholesterol under control (it was running over 300 even on a low fat diet). In about six weeks the cholesterol came down about to about 200. I have tried going off the low card diet (40 grams per day) and the cholesterol levels go right back up again. So, here are the stats for me: 42 years old, 6-4 tall, 205 pounds, little over 12% body fat. Workout schedule is five days a week: Monday-back, Tuesday-chest, Wednesday-legs, Thursday-shoulders, and Friday-arms. Generally do one warm-up set with four sets at working weight. I try for ten reps per set except for legs and calves where I am trying using more reps and lower weight for a while. I was doing cardio two or three days a week but I stopped that about a month ago. Here is the question; Is it possible to design any kind of diet that will let me gain a little more mass (maybe say, 220 lbs and still about 11% or 12% fat) and still stay at 40 grams of carbs a day or less? I'm not really trying for huge results here. Just a little less skinny.

Thanks for the help.

You need to take high protein if you're going to go low carb and keep muscle. Get at least 1g to 1 1/2g per pound of bodyweight- 2g if you want to be aggressive.
