I'm fine with myself eating close to bedtime as long as it's a protein or fat source. I stay out of carbs normally but I really wouldn't want them before bed. A chicken breast and a tablespoon or two of natural peanut butter are my preference. Though if you're cutting the # of cals you'd want to take it would really depend on how many you'd already consumed that day.

I keep my carbs to earlier in the day and post workout.
 
i've eaten at 4am before, i just try to limit my 'meal' to protein and fat....

unless its the rare occasion its a post workout meal in which case i always have carbs
