Ladies - what are you resolutions in terms of...

Gave up on "resolutions" a long time ago. However, I have goals for 2003! :D

Physique-wise? Ah, to come in 5lbs heavier for my next contest (2-lbs away) after that, just about every goal physique-wise would have to do with developing my functional strength, improving boxing skills, and overall conditioning.

Beyond physique, it's some "firsts": to get first in my class in April; compete in my first Powerlifting meet; compete in my first Strongwoman contest; to fight in my first amatuer boxing match.

I'm pur-tee excited about 2003!

Thank you for asking, Cornholio!

Well, since I just got my invite to the 2003 NABBA Worlds and 2003 WFF Universe, both in June, my goal is to put together a physique the judges have to give a decent placing to. Although I thought my last attempt was good enough for a decent placing, damn it!

Of course, for the next couple of months I'll be working my tail off trying to put on as much muscle as possible, so when I start cutting again, I have more muscle to lose. :-) Just kidding. Only on the part about losing muscle.

I don't make resolutions, but I made an exception this year. I resolve to do a real squat! :) Since I'll probably work up my weight within the next couple of weeks to do so, I'm pretty certain that is one resolution I'll actually achieve.

I'd like 2003 to go out with a 550 pound deadlift...and if that sucker goes up, I won't care what the hell I look like doing it. :)

If you do that...Cheese just might quit lifting completely...

Given that I finally hired someone to take on 1/3 of the 3 jobs that I am performing right now, I'll be very happy if I can get in the gym on a regular basis. It would also be nice to remember to eat occassionally. I've maintained a nice lump of muscle that I started building like almost a year ago, so I think I'm just gonna work on getting a nice balance in my life and maybe dump some of the mass. Since I bought those damn fuck me heels for the figure show I was gonna do, who knows, maybe I'll go that route towards the end of the year if I can start to lean out.

What about u Corn?

I will be conducting a long-term experiment in "How far can spatts slowly drop her bodyfat while maintaining strength."

That's my resolution too. At this point I'm pretty satisfied with my strength and the amount of muscle I carry, I'd just like less bodyfat so that I can SEE the muscles better.

I also tend towards extremes - excessive calorie restriction, or excessive excercise, or both simultaneously - and my other resolution is to listen to my body when it says I need a break from those, before I'm forced to take a break by injury or sickness.

On that same note, my little sister recently graduated from UCBerkeley (in 3 1/2 years, no less!), and my mother and I drove up north to help her move back home. Sis had several heavy pieces of furniture, such as a large bookcase, a futon with an incredibly heavy mattress, and a solid oak desk, that she and my osteoporotic mother couldn't have possibly moved by themselves. For the first time in I don't know how long, I was grateful that I was not only strong enough to help my family with an important task, but I was injury-free and physically able to do it. It was a moment of clarity that reminded me I excercise for more than just cosmetic reasons. Nice feeling. ;)

I'm around 229 right now - fairly solid, after my play in Feb. I would like to hit 240ish and cut down to a tight 220

you bring out the bitch in me young man. Or maybe its not the bitch but the bitch who wields the whip.... you are evil.

Not sure about "resolutions" as such, although I AM resolute, lol. I will just carry out the next few learning steps I have planned - I will drop my bf to a lower level and work on staying within a narrower margin with it. I will become a lot stronger - I'm not sure of exact numbers, because I'm not sure what's possible - I really would like to be doing 315 lbs for reps on DL by the end of the year, but who knows? Maybe I'll achieve that earlier :)

Mostly I intend to grow a lot bigger, and I want to toy with different training and nutrition strategies to achieve this.

I have been told on one occasion that I am Lucifer himself......but that was in the emotion of the moment, so Im not sure that really counts...kinda like shouting 'i love you" for the first time in the middle of a ...um..."session".

:)

My resolutions are more on the level of strength than appearance. I want to learn to do more reps on pullups (managed the first rep on my own a few weeks ago and can't do it anymore because I gained 4 pounds because of X-mas :D) and try to benchpress as much as possible .. Have only been training for 5 months now, so I don't know if it would be possible to benchpress my own weight (then prob. about 130 lbs) once by the end of this year? Now I do sets of 8 with two 33 lbs dumbells, so that's 66 lbs (don't know my 1RM on that), but I've heard dumbells are much harder to balance than barbell, that I haven't tried yet. Anyone has any experience in this and knows what I could expect?

well said Ceebs!

keep the weights moving up...
become an information sponge...
keep the bf moving down...

I wake up daily thankful I'm still breathing, stubborn and fit for such an old fart!:)

As far as goals or resolutions? I'll keep chugging along being happy with whatever I get along the way.

I have three main goals this year in terms of my bod - fat loss, stronger upper body, running.

I want a bodyfat percentage in the low-to-mid 20s (instead of my last measurement - 37%) I got fat 5 years ago and I'm sick of it. I want to be back into "normal" clothing sizes (instead of plus sizes and XLs) for the first time in about 5 years. I'm curvy and I had a belly even at my leanest, when I wore size 12 jeans. So anything below that is just gravy. I'm a size 16/18 now at 5 feet 8 inches tall.

I want a more powerful upper body. In addition to usual female weakness there, I have a small (short AND narrow) torso and spindly arms. I want to get a MUCH bigger bench press than my current 80 lbs. (no specific number in mind yet), "big girl" push-ups - on my toes, and do ONE chin-up (this will be the toughest!).

Finally, I want to be running regularly again. I know there's cardio out there that's easier on the joints, but I just love to run. I'm just a 'recreational jogger': 10-15 miles per week. (My knees aren't the best and I need them for squatting, too! :D)

I want to maintain the weight that I put on this year. I've had some pretty bad luck with my shoulders this year especially with doing gymnastics, so I'm really focussing on putting some more size on through the shoulders. Since I've stopped doing gymnastics, they definitely seem better but I think they are just weaker than the rest of me and I need to pick them up a little.

In terms of physique, increase my leg size... and of course reduce bodyfat in order to have a smaller waist. Refine muscle details of form and symmetry.

Other goals are improve overall strenght and flexibility. I want to do better fitness movements for my routine. Also I want to improve back flips in order to do them faster.
