Ladies Weight Loss: Simple equation, right?

The secret to weight loss is that there is no secret.

Eat fewer calories than you burn and the pounds will drop off. Simple, right? Not so fast. We are all at the mercy of human nature, turning weight loss into a complex problem. We have desires, years of ingrained habits, roller-coaster emotions, and social pressures that often dictate the choices we make. It is time to take back the power. You (not your mind) are in control and it is time to own your health. As you embark on a more healthy journey, pay close attention to why you eat. For many of us, it is not out of hunger or to fuel our bodies. Next time you reach for food, journal or at least think about why you are doing it. Being aware could make the difference between success and defeat. This doesn't mean don't eat it (we also need enough food) just simply be aware of why you are. Over time you will find your "habitual" reasons and can work to stop them or at the very least - not feed them.

Eveytime I reach for something to eat, I close my eyes and think of how I want to look a year from now. Is it worth eating and having a setback? Or, are you really hungry and is it something that will benefit me.
Yesterday, I was off from work and had some time to myself at home. Here's a bag of buffalo pretzels my kids didn't eat looking at me. I looked at the bag and envisioned my accomplishments I have made so far and said "It's not worth it" I made a cup of tea and was satisfied.
Food is an addiction for me just as alcohol and drugs are to others. It's taken along time to get a grip on the temptations but I've struggled through and feel that "I" am now in control!!

My bad eating happens mostly on holidays now.

When I am in my normal routine it isn't much of an issue.

On holidays, I have this 'oh I deserve a little break, I can get back to it later'.

Well, with 7 weeks of holidays already this year, I can do a lot of damage, and I did put on some chub in New Zealand.

I find it is about getting the balance right.

There isn't anything wrong with having a little treat, for example, I have been given these gorgeous Belgium chocolates for Valentine's day and my birthday, so I share them with everyone and have two a day at the most.

I can deal with the extra calories from two extra chocolates, but 10 or the whole box, no.

good tip mommalu. today at work someone brought banana bread. i love banana bread and it smelled like a piece of heaven. then I'd ask myself is it worth it, a few minutes of enjoying delicious banana bread? the answer was no, it was not. then the devil rears it ugly head and i was thinking it early in the morning yet so i'll just burned it off anyways. in the end, after my internal battle, i popped a mint and walked away. felt damn proud of myself.lol...plus the my cravings were diminished.

okay i'm done, just thought i'd share.:)
