Ladies, do you find that when you go into Home Depot..

The workers sometimes say Hi to me, but that's about it...... I haven't been asked if I want help for about 2 years..... sometimes when I want help I can't find it, but if I don't want help, their all over me....

Lowes is supposed to be rated #1 to females cuz of how helpful they are....maybe HOme Depot is trying to catch up

You can take about 10 steps before people come dashing out of the woodwork to "help" you.. I try not to get insulted, but it's as if they do a silent alarm
"Code blue! There's a FEMALE in the hardware store, all points assist!!"

I guess I'm probably being ovely sensitive, but I AM capable of finding what I need, yes the store is huge, and it make take a few mintues, but the assumption that I'm overwhelmed and incapable kinda ruffles my feathers.

Or maybe it's just good customer service, and such a rarity that I don't recognize it anymore when I see it. :)

LOL i can totally relate! i thought this was going to read...do you find when you go into home depot every one thinks your retarded and dont know a screw from a nail???

I appreciate the help. I'm usually wanting to get in and out, so having someone take me directly to the right section and help me if I need wood cut or something is fine with me.

Me, too. I practically had to lasso the guy last time I needed some chain cut (it wasn't entirely his fault...on his way to help me he got tackled by a good ole' boy with a huge straw cowboy hat and boots to match). Urgh. And I was in a hurry to get home and beat the heat, too. I was hopping mad. I wish I had ten clerks running up to help.

LOL!!

That reminds me of the time I needed some wood, found it no prob, but they were tie-wrapped together!! I needed a utility knife to cut it & couldn't find a soul to do it......Had to hunt down a worker who then proceeded to tell me where to buy a knife.....

I think it does have a little to do with the fact your a female but also just plain good service. I notice it alot also. Less when I look all grungy( like Ive been working around my house) more when Im dressed up. Ha!

I usually just wear a tank and shorts when I'm not working but once I went in wearing a short skirt and heels, the service was unbeatable that day. LOL

It depends on the trip I guess - I've had some times where I have to go looking for someone & other times when there's been a person right there to help. Personally I think that's the sign of a good store. The guys that are really solicitous of me tend to be the weird ones though. (I dunno, coulda been south Florida too...) I have to say though, when I go to Home Depot, I don't just run in for something. I'm like my dad in that respect - I LOVE wandering around Home Depot when I have some project going. I'm expecting to be there more in comign days because I'm closing on my new townhouse in a couple weeks. Let's see what the HD boys look like here ... !

Don't worry ladies, they do it to the men too. I've been in there a few times with a buddy of mine who's redesigning his bathroom and every time we go in there someone approaches and asks him if there is anything he needs help finding.

The thing I like about Home Depot is they ask, but then leave you alone if you don't need the help. I call it good customer service. Sadly, that's something you don't usually see anymore.

My sisters bf pimps me in all those stores. Sticks me out like a sore thrumb.. till i lure someone over to help then disappear
