It's illegal for sale to humans. (somebody overseas fucked up a batch and some peolple died from taking it......so the intelligent law-makers pulled it from the shelves) Anywho, do a search for a vet company called BIOS. They sell a high quality tryptophan.

Oh yeah, take it on an empty stomach.

why was it banned ?

Because it increases brain levels of the same neurotransmitter that SSRI's do, but was available without a prescription for a fraction of the cost.
