Kimbo didn't slip. He got caught flush in the eye and drop like a rock.

The hype is over.

The way I saw it Seth missed with his second kick, Kimbo for some reason slipped forward into Seth's jab which knocked him down.

Kimbo is nothing special. just a buff street fighter. I have been saying this all along. Finally people aren't going to call me crazy.

I was wrong. I saw something, now it's gone. Kimbo is a big guy with a strong punch and he hits sometimes. again a real fighter, he is nothing.

Seth came up short on that kick and Kimbo thought he would rush in and try a lil' take down - take down. That is why he came in low, not because he slipped.

Seth threw a punch that caught him and pretty much put him out.

If you look at all the other punches that Seth threw while Kimbo was down, on his side and then back, Seth probably threw about 8, but only about 4 really connected. And the strongest of those was that overhead hammerfist that he whacked him with. First two punches ended the fight, the last ones were missing and really nothing more but icing on the cake to make the ref stop it.

you gotta be kidding me, everyone who remotely follows this subject knew this. He fought wash ups for his first few fights and when the wash up dropped out and he had to fight a legit person he got owned....

At the beg., I actuall thought he had something special about him. I dnt know why. Now it is clear he has nothing going for him.

You want to know what is sad? That fight actually lasted a full 8 seconds longer than the fight will last when I beat Suge Knight's ass in the cage.

fight stopped to soon .. kimbo took worse beatings in his street fight vs gannon and went on

lmao at the bunch of you...

He lost a fight. He didn't lose his career or anything else. Hopefully, he comes back.

Sheesh. Brock lost 1 fight and now he's got a title shot.

Heh......very true...that he has a title shot already is fucked up imo.....but I still want him to win, and he seems more legit than Kimbo....RACIST, right?

no more commercials for kimbo, too bad shamrock was hurt.... Probably would have beat him.

he couldn't even punch through david blane's stomach. and he hit him twice.

i never said i wouldn't go fishing with the guy. but, if i see him i'm putting him into the wall!!

That was a stupid fight, looked like he slipped.

And that's where the big bucks is kids. Have Kimbo lose a contested match where his fans cry foul and that he was ripped off -- and then make MEGA bucks on the rematch.

EliteXC has taken pointers from boxing. :)

The ole head butt to the fist...always effective.

I call dive...........was petruzelli even a heavyweight? Did I hear correctly that he calls himself "the silverback"?? Dude looked a lighheavy "at best".

he was only 205 lbs.

no way a 205'er drops kimbo with that little jab. Bums or not, Kimbo gave alot of guys "free shots" and you'd have some 300 pounders lay into him with all they got. Thompson, who is a bum.......but still, he hit him with some real good wood and didn't drop him. You have to hit kimbo with all you got to do that.

He got jabbed on the side of the chin causing the nerve behind the jaw to compress. It was a tiny hit, but in the perfect spot while he was lunging forward. Anyone can get rocked like this.

Kimbo really shouldnt have taken the fight. He had nothing to gain by fighting Seth. Plus Shamrock woulda looked like the tool-of-the-night for getting cut backstage. Now Kimbo has that title.

BTW did you hear the mad shit Frank was talkin about Ken at the beginning?!? "He's disgracing the Shamrock name and legacy..." HAHAHA

Isn't that one of the weaknesses of MMA as a sport? It seems like a somewhat random event can create a huge swing in the outcome almost regardless of the participants.

Venturing a little far from the Home Economics forum aren’t you big guy?

I am!

Hell, I can't spell MMA. Probably watched a combined total of 2 minutes or less of the sport.

As an outsider looking in, it seems like in a basketball, baseball or football game if one team is clearly superior to another, the numbers will wash-out. So a freak touchdown or a freak three-pointer are easily neutralized. Sure you can have a hail mary pass with 0:03 on the clock, but the question would be: "Why didn't you get at least a touchdown ahead before the other team even through the pass."

But in something like MMA (soccer seems this way to me too), the entire event can be completely dominated by a freak event.

Is that true?

Everyone has a "puncher's chance" but if you followed MMA since its inception you'd be amazed at the evolution of the sport.

At the top levels you really have to be versed (at a world class level) in all aspects, e.g. standup, grappling, submissions, and the corresponding defenses.

That first punch sent him down and rattled him. Noticed how he hit his knees and sort of just stayed there still giving Seth the chance to get over his momentary "oh shit look what I did" surprise and then pounce on him?

Kimbo got exposed as a choke artist there.

If that shit is gonna succeed they'll need better announcers.

Better fucking refs too. I got tired of seeing that Troy do the chest to lips floaty kisses to heaven bullshit every time they announced his name as referee. Bitch no one paid to come there and see you. Stop that attention whoring bullshit. You're a nobody.

And each time he had to rear back on one leg to start the "fight" command each round, I kept thinking that the invisible man just kicked him in the nuts.

Oh, the skills these guys have are indisputable. They have to be insanely conditioned, well trained in multiple disciplines then they need the mental ability to put it all together into a coherent fight plan. I'm sold on the athletes.

I look at MMA like two basketball teams playing but instead of playing a fixed time, the game's over whenever one team gets ahead by five or more. So the game could go-on for hours... but a quick score, turnover and a fast three could end it in seconds. I just don't see how the sport deals with the tremendous variability.

Man, I thought Kimbo could take a punch.

Kimbo went to block a front kick, which left his guard low, he got caught with a left jab right on "the buttom" the lower jaw. You can knock someone out with about 10lbs of pressure applied there, Kimbo didn't lose consciousness, but was cleary out of it for a good 10 seconds after taking that shot.

You'll notice he grabbed the ref's leg after he started the fight, Kimbo was still not clear headed then. Of course after the fight was stopped, his senses returned within a few moments and he was pissed the fight was stopped, but it was for his protection. With him continuing to take shots to the head, he would hot have recovered before more damage was inflicted on his brain.

I thought Kimbo could take a fucking punch, that was the best thing about him I thought was his strong jaw, but apparently its more like a glass jaw.

the ref nearly stopped the fight earlier than he did, a LOT earlier, that would have made things even worse from a fan perspective.

Look at Kimbo's legs while he is down, he rolls on his back and is incapable of defending himself.
