Kicking someone in the face with your knee

Did you see Brad Imes' game plan in the first round of The Ultimate Figher 2 Grand Finale? He made it a point to clinch Rashad Evans' neck/head to set him up for a Muay Thai knee kick to the face. He did this several times, in a complete matter of fact style. I mean, he would just reach for the back of his neck and then thrust a knee up to Evans' upper extremity.

Thanks to Joe Rogan for pointing out that this is a very effective kick for a tall man to use on a short man. He explained that a tall guys knee doesn't have to travel very far to get the job done. Makes sense to me.

Have had it done to me as a teenager, and my face went numb for ages after the impact, chipped a tooth and broke the nose. Had black eyes for over a week. (was held in a head lock at the time as the other guy knee'd me).

Have had cracked ribs from a knee,

have done it in the muay thai ring to someone else,

and have attacked the ribcage of a patron that wouldnt leave the bar which suited the situation. he dropped and we had to drag him out. Good weapon in close quarters if your timing is sharp

Saintinistic, a guy giving someone a knee to the face while at the same time applying a headlock is a little hard for me to envision. I don't know, then again maybe he had you in a side headlock (using his right arm?) and simply raised his (left?) knee.

knees to the face hurt - but they are not the easiest thing to do.

do not knee the side or the back of the head - that hurts...hurts bad.

always go for the nose.

my bad, it should have read that one guy held me as the other guy knee'd my face. two of them against me.

it was a long time ago, and taught a good lesson: get smart & get trained.

thats what got me into martial arts..

one second i was walking out of a candy store .. next minute i was surrounded.. next thing im in the hospital looking up at the lights and it was like 18hrs later...

scared teh crap out of me and i walked around petrified for a while until i started training..

always worried someone will want to talk to me
or look at me

Talk to you? Lol, maybe it'll be Jay Leno wanting to do a "Man on the Street" segment.
Seriously, alot of fights between men start with just a "look."
I read an article somewhere that stated that that was one of the main reasons 2 strange men will come together to engage in a fight.
In fact, they put it at reason #1.
I believe it was a statement made based on a statistic.
I would tend to think that just about everyone reading this has at one time or another had a silent transferance of heightened hostility communicated with another man via eyeballs.

That article went on to give a reason of why 2 women would engage in a fight, and it had nothing to do with "mean mugging."
I don't know how many people out there have heard of the term mean mugging. I don't think I've seen that term used anywhere else before.
I didn't make it up.
I read it years ago in a Northern California paper.
It was used to describe what a gangster does in a drive-by. They'll sit in the back of the car, stare out the open window, and glare at their enemy as they slowly cruise by.
Some people also call it "dogging."

"The Reasons Why Men and Women Get Into a Fight" article is one that I think I cut out and saved. I can't remember what the number one reason is that would compel 2 women to get into a fight, but it had nothing to do with visual hostilty.
I should know, because it makes for good converastion out in the real world.
Maybe I'll dig that article out someday.

Ya me too, I'm not really scared of anyone talking to me, I just get annoyed. Unless its a nice looking chic lol.

And in that case I hold my wallet real tight.

IMO - trying to knee someone in the face is equivalent to trying to elbow someone in the foot. The only time it is practical is when their face is already meeting your knee halfway such as preventing someone from shooting in for a takedown, or if their head is already at a lower level. Knees are good weapons against legs, groin and stomach. Much easier using elbows to the face and head. I kinda like using palms on the face and head.

knee to the face is one of the best takedown defenses. you dont see this in UFC of course because kicking the head is illegal once somebody's knees are down.
