Does ketosis in any way interfere with your ability to concentrate? Just wondering. I'm thinking of doing CKD and was wondering how it would affect my concentration at work and school.
It might pose issues initially as you adapt to keto lifestyle. BUt after a certain period your concentration, focus and memory will become more efficient in exerting their functions simply due to the fact that there is no fluctuation of insulin and blood glucose which offsets numerous neurotransmitters and hormones which results in periods of increased/decreased ability to focus. With stable blood glucos levels that is a void issue. Keto is one way, of course chowing the whole day on carbs and thus keeping levels constant could be another way, but more counterproductive to weight loss
Also important to adhere perfectly to keto routine. Refeeds are mandatory and gain further degree of importance since long periods of fasting and hypoinsulinic state tend to induce a decline in many hormonal and, consequently, neural pathways.

isn't it a fact that you will become hypoglycemic on a keto-style diet? that's not good for concentration, i would think. i know that these diets have a negative impact on the CNS, the brain prefers carbs.
I'm into my second week of CKD, I just re-entered ketosis this morning after my Saturday refeed.
After first going into ketosis, the first 36 hours or so were really terrible regarding my concentration and short-term memory capability. I'm a programmer so this can be debilitating at work.
Nonetheless, it passed pretty quickly and I was fully functional again. The great thing is that in the second week( today ), my re-adjustment period was only a few hours instead of a day and a half. I guess my body is better able to cope with the change now. Hopefully next week it will only be a few minutes.
