Kentucky Training Day!!! April 12th 2003!!!

b fold the truth

Elite Strongman
Platinum
Well...the time is near again and we are ready for another Kentucky Training Day here at my place. I know that several people are getting ready for different contests this Spring/Summer and we plan on kicking it off here at my place.

Saturday, April 12th, 2003
12:00 noon till whenever (4:00 or so)

I know that several people are getting ready for:
*Music City Strongman in Nashville: June 13th
log, tire, farmers, stones, super yoke (some of my own equipment may be used at this contest)

*Beast of the East: May 17th
viking press, hercules hold, anvil carry, power stairs, yoke/tire/sled

*Illinois Strongman Record Breakers: May 24th
log press, 18" deadlift, keg toss, car hold, atlas stones

I have nearly all of the equipment for all of these contests for everyone to train on...and we always have fun and learn a lot. The video camera and the still cameras will be running all day long.

Don't miss out on this chance to learn from some of the best Amateur strongman today...I have been given several 'maybe' answers and several 'I'll be there' answers also.

Post up...I hope that everyone makes it!!!

you know b, thats funny. yesterday i talked to my wife and my training partner and i was going to pm you today to ask if we could just show up one day, but this is great....... that is if you dont mind having some "bodybuilders" there. haha....... you know me, im fimilar with westside and so is my friend. hopefully we will not be too big of an embarassment. GOD willing, we'll be there!!!!!!!!

I'm getting lots of good feedback from some of the strongmen on other boards and through email about this...

I can't wait...only 5 more weeks...make sure you are ready:)

I would say that we can expect 10-20 people here easily...

I got word that we may have a couple more pro competitors here also...and some amazing amateurs.

Seriously...I expect to learn a lot April 12th...you should come too!!!!

B True

April 12th...here in Murray, Kentucky.
Looks as if we already have 10-15 (at least) who will be here. There will be some VERY tough people here for sure...

Everyone is welcome!!!!

Well...in 24 hours we will be having lots of fun.

They are expecting a sunny day at 70 degrees...and lots and lots of fun.

As of today...there are 21 people training here at my home!!!

For everyone that is gonna be here...don't forget to bring everything!!!!

I will make it down there one of these days.

That it does. But my wife would be a little pissed if I spent Saturday at your house, and the rest of our anniversary laid up in bed from being so sore.:)

I had an awesome time! I'm so glad that you and adaus10 (did I get that right?? lol) made it! Your wife is a doll, and so supportive...I'm sure she's your biggest fan. Remind her about the women's board for me, will ya? :)

Clint...thank you to you and your family for putting up with us, feeding us, etc. Shoot me a PM when you get online so we can figure out which pics you want us to post.

Posted this on QQ's thread, but I'll add it over here too.

Whew...made it back in one piece! It was a hell of a good time...tried everything, and the only thing that really frustrated me was the super yoke.

My lats and neck are sore, my grip is still fried from the hercules hold, and my left hand won't stop tingling.

I can't thank B Fold and his family enough for their hospitality. :)

Oh yeah, and at least I didn't lose to Cheese. :D

That's right Spatts (adaus10). Kinda suprised you remembered. I did have a great time and am glad I came to train. I apreciate everybody being so friendly and supportive on all of the events saturday. I will be coming back to train.

B fold, thank you inviting us up to train. I enjoyed each lift and was very impressed with all of the positiveness everybody brought. You and your family and friends made me feel very welcome. I look foward to the next time.

Cheeze, So I've been thinking...

I am just sore...and sick. It is true though...the bigger that they are...the bigger the baby that they are when they are sick. :)

Feel free to post any and all pictures/vids. I would really like to have a copy of ALL of them myself...feel free to email them to me.

It was awsome to see all of you guys...so much freakin potential out there. We found out that a lot of strength sports is just plain ol' heart...and you guys definately have a lot of it!!!

It was such a good experience, so positive an uplifting. it charged me in a way that will last a long time. this board has always been good because of the fact that a lot of the people here feel the same way as i do about training. so to meet the people and actually see the passion we share take place while training was priceless.

Hannibal - the silent but funny guy with a big determination when he actually picks up a weight. it was impressive to see what you did.

Spatts - a truely beautiful person with an outstanding personality. i hope the shoulders get better, i hope to see you lifting again. you inspired my wife, i hope you two become good friends. Oh yeah i almost forgot, thanks for telling me how to get that last row of my abbs to show up.;)

Project - a good guy that is equally funny, with or without margaritta's in him. but you can see fury in him when he lifts. he is going to get stronger stronger.

Brian4747(?) - really funny guy whose main task is always keeping Cheese in line. but very strong, and helped out me and adaus10 a lot with all of the lifts.

Cheese - well im shooting out my "M" waves as i type this so i hope you get that!. your a great guy, odd, but great......my wife thinks your hillarious, but that you have a great personality, you were there to route us on from the get go, so thanks.

B Fold - the man. watching him for 2 years on these boards does no justice for standing next to the XXXL man and watching him lift. he will be the first one to discredit my words, but belive me, they are true. I guess the saying is true, the bigger the man the bigger the heart, because he lays everything he has on the line when he lifts, and when he helps you out. A truely great lifter, and friend.

As and added bonus, all of the strongman not on the boards that showed up were amazing. i have even knew respect for these guys. Amazing.

The whole group was outstanding. I have never met such a great group of people that just welcomed us in, bodybuilders or not. A weekend i will not soon forget. Thanks for everything to everyone.

Exodus,
It was great meeting you guys, even better training with you. As far as keeping check on cheesus, that is too big of a job for even bfold;) It was an amazing weekend. I enjoyed meeting and training with all the guys. It would be great to get to train like that once a month, every week might be too much.
Hope to see you guys soon.

Cuthbert, if you see this, I still have your #:D

Bfold, thanks again.

Wish I could have been there. I had been looking forward to it since I trained w/ yall in December.
Unfortunately, some of my teachers ended up moving some exams and papers around at the last minute, so somehow it worked out that today I had an Organic Chem test, a Genetics test, a Lab final, and a quiz. Not to mention the book I have to have read by tomorrow, the quiz tomorrow, the 30-minute presentation ive got on Wednesday, and the paper due on Thursday. I spent my weekend in the basement of the science library studying.

Ill be there next time, though.

keep talkin, brian....

we'll see how things go as time progresses.

btw, nice work on saturday.. i was impressed:fro:

cuthbert

It sounds like you all had a blast, I am in PA, but if I could take a vacation that would be my idea of an ideal trip, plus I always wanted to see if I had a knack for strongman, and who better to learn from?.......Since I am a fat ass, I have to ask, What was on the menu????

sloppy joe's:D

cuthbert, thanx man. i've been devising a plan to shoot my oh press through the roof:)

spatts, hannibal, project, i would love to train with u guys on your turf sometime, i'm sure i'd learn alot.

Hi Spatts..this is exodus' wife. I have now joined elite. I just wanted to let you know that I was truely inspired by you. I am new to powerlifting but I know I have the determination to do it. I do know a small amount about bodybuilding and lifting just from what I have learned through exodus. I do appreciate his help but I would love to have my own diet and workout that would work the best for me. Hopefully I will be able to learn something new from you. I want to be bigger and stronger .....as you saw over the weekend I have a long way to go..:D Thanks for the new friendship ...you have a wonderful personality.

By the way exodus has me reading Dave Tates Periodization part I and II.

Trinity

Trinity! So glad you made it. Check out the women's board, if you haven't already...women's and training are the two best boards on Elite, IMHO. I think you will be surprised at how quickly you gain strength; I know I was. Heck, this time last year, I couldn't hold a door open and I was still layed out from a deadlift injury. I hear the end justifies the means, but I still hope I never see the end. I have way too much fun in this life. :)

Brian747478, others, you are ALWAYS welcome to come train with us. Just call me and let me know you're coming so I can have a post workout lasagna ready for ya. :p

awesome job everyone!

project you did an awesome job in the videos! looks like you have been bulking some too since the last time you posted vids? looking good man!

*sigh* Oh how I wish I could have been there. Too much fun.

B: so glad you had a tremendous turnout! Very cool. And hopefully some of the women were lightweight class hopefuls! Gotta get some good competitors in strongwoman contests!

Thanks man!

I'm up to about 191 right now. Got as high as 197, but was carrying too much fat, so I've scaled my cals back a bit.

For no longer than I was there I was truley impressed. I knew when I walked up I had no business attepting some of the things everyone was doing. There was alot of weight being moved that day. I would have liked to have stayed longer but we got to Murray late and I had friends that I had to get to places, should have told them to walk!!! Clint, you definataly need to put on another one sometime soon. I will be down to lift with you all one sunday soon. I can see I still have alot to learn and it looks like you all are the ones I need to be learning from!!!

Grantsdu: You are welcome here anytime...

I hope to have pictures up by this evening. I have about 310 of them from training and about 50 videos.

I resemble that remark. Was a bit out of my elemant...never done any of the events before. However, I enjoyed the entire weekend.

One thing I noted about Strongman training....WAY TOO MUCH BALANCE IS INVOLVED. The sport is way too athletic for me...I like my lifts to stay in one plane at a time...thank you very much.

:lmao:

Ah, you can't let things get inside your head. I went in determined to try everything, and see how it went.

It was truly a great bunch of guys...everyone was willing to teach techniques, give tips, and in general give encouragement.

Definitely get in there with Clint and give it a whirl.

:)

yeah i will agree about the whole balance issue, something i lack in greatly. i guess if i continue with this i will just have to get so unbeliveably strong to where the weights will not cause any ballance issues.

Now THAT'S a great attitude! :D

-Ky training day-

I had a great time. You all did very good...especially for your first shots at the events.Dont worry much about the balance issue. It goes away quickly if you keep working on the events,or at least things that simulate the events.Seeing how you all did saturday,Im sure you will progress fast.
Thank you Bfold(and family!!)for letting us come down !!

Hope to have video clips up soon still...there are quite a few of them...
