...With Mel Gibson...

It's been a long time since I've seen a movie that drove me to tears, but this one did, more than once.Truly heartbreaking.Viet Nam was so horrible,it's undescribable.I wish we could all just coexist without having to kill one another, but such is the nature of the beast called man.Definitely hurts anyones heart who has humanity beating within it.

Mel Gibson did yet one more awesome, convincing performance as Colonel Moore though. He's always on top of his game.

I got teared up in 3 diff parts of Blackhawk Down...I'll have to see We Were Soldiers.... I doubt tears of the sun is better

Black Hawk Down and We Were Soldiers... both are historical portraits of conflicts that are truly, two of the most one sided battles in military history.

We were soldier, black hawk down and pearl harbour are movies that always bring a tear to my eyes. all those people trapped in the ships sinking in pearl harbour, knowing they were gonna die....shit, that is just beyond comprahension.

Tears of the Sun was NOT better. It was a crap movie.

We Were Soldiers was ok... I felt so fucking pissed off that when the fighting was over, the helicopter brought the reporters in... shit, why not bring them in while the danger was happening. Fucking media cowards.

Well at least the reporter who TOLD the story had the sack to hang in there during the heat of the battle,he even took up arms at one point. You can see how fucked up it left him though.

The book was better than the movie IMO. That goes for We Were Soldiers and Blackhawk Down. Tears of the Sun doesn't have much in common with the other two movies in the sence that the other films were based on historically accurate books. Tears of the sun is just another typical hollywood action flick.

i liked that we were soldiers also brought what was happening at home into the story, too. obviously, war touches more lives than just those who fight them and to leave out the effects of on the wives and families would have made the movie incomplete. i was prepared to hate we were soldiers, but i loved it.

looks like I am the only one who liked that movie then, we were soldiers was more emotional I just like special ops shit more

Mel Gibson is a great actor.

You have to respect Mel. Braveheart was absolutely incredible.

I wonder about the guys who make millions off of obviously piss poor military decisions. Are they the worst murderers of them all? Perhaps.

Mel Gibson is a very underrated actor in my opinion.
I am counting down the days until his next film sitting on the directors chais; "Passion."
It tells the story of the last days of Jesus. The film is spoken only in Latin and Aramaic, WITH NO SUBTITLES.
Apparently, it is also one of the most graphic movies in history.

Havent' watched we were soldiers yet. And I own the movie. Hard to watch those kinds of movies when you are part of the military.

I got all choked up explaining to my boys about the soldiers who died in Blackhawk down and how their kids would never get to see their dads again. It really hit home on my 6 year old and 12 year old. They both understood what I was saying and got all teary eyed when they realized I could be one of those soldiers who died at any time.

Dont' speak aramaic or latin, so I guess I'll have to rely on the graphics.

When does that come out?

This has got to be a statement. I don't see how not being able to understand the words could not hurt sales.

I'll see it for sure. Such a fascinating story.

I think it may come out this Christmas. Mel said that he wants the visuals to tell the story, and supposedly he has everything so authentic it isnt even funny.

Here is one of the pictures I found from the set:

The producers releasing it obviously arent too happy, but hes Mel Gibson, so you cant really say no.

He is probably one of the most devout Catholics in the world. The only reason he calls Australia his full-time home is because it is one of the only places in the world that still performs the church mass in Latin (how the standard was prior to the Second Vatican Council in the 1960s). He has just started to build a church near his home in Malibu that will follow this program as well.
He despises modern Christianity, saying that the Second Vatican Council has resulted in dwindling numbers in the church and pedophilia in the clergy.
(If you dont know what I mean by the 2nd Vatican Council, it was the 2nd time in history when all the Bishops of the world met in Rome to discuss how to remedy the church and bring it more into the mainstream in order to capture a larger audience).

Its not Mel Gibson or Nam,

But "Saving Private Ryan" is a helluva flick. If you dont cry at the end where he's standing there with his family at Tom Hanks grave site, then there is something wrong with you.

Saving Private Ryan is, in my opinion, the best movie ever made.

I seen it more than any other movie. I think Braveheart is equally powerful but does not lend itself to multiple viewings as well.

Those images look authentic and I respect Gibson for following his principles but that has got to hurt sales.

We need more Gibson movies!
