Just ripped off 405

Lumberg

Yep, just wanted to see what my 1 rep max was on deadlift so I warmed up and put 405 on the bar (needed 3 45s, a 35, and a 10 on each side b/c my gym only has 6 plates) and pulled it. I was stoked. I sorta stalled about 3/4 of the way up but I didn't stop moving or trying and eventually it locked out.

Last night I weighed 163#.

Great feeling.

My next goal is to get {315x10} x 2 as a part of my regular workout.

Good numbers, how the back feel? Belt or no Belt? Wraps? I did back last thursday and I haven't done deads in 2 months due to a slight tear, and studying for my Mcat's, so I ripped out 315 for 10 pretty easy. Don't worry you can be able to as long as your from is good. Getting stuck at the 3/4 part sucks:( , but soon you will get past that and hit the 500 clib... Keep it up....

good, that means your back is in good shape and no need for a 'crutch to walk on' just get your grip strength up there and you'll be blasting away the deads no prob....

I've always been blessed with a strong back. I also have very short hamstrings. Do you think they have anything to do with each other?

great lift! but a gym with only 6 plates???? I cant imagine...haha

good shit bro... i'm thinkin about givin 405 a go next time, which will be in a week or so... can't wait!! congrats again....

Thats a good lift for your bodyweight, but I think the plate issue is a big clue that its time to find a new gym. Congrats on the lift(esp beltless).

Great lift considering your bodyweight, even more impressive by the no belt or straps, there aren't many of us that lift that way but your gains will kick ass!

Thanks for all the responses guys! I am really proud.

Champ, it was conventional. I am thinking of switching to sumo for a couple months just to switch it up though.

The gym is a free one at work so I can't really complain. I was thinking of setting up a home gym but I love getting my w/o s at lunch too much.

I have written up all kinds of suggestions on the comment cards but nothing ever happens. The main thing is that they have the cheap plate/bar combos that are all loose. The machines aren't bolted down. etc. etc. etc.

I do however plan on approaching the lady who runs the gym and just be like, look, your equipment here sucks and I am going to buy some of my own and keep it here. No more expensive than a home gym and more convenient.

Thanks again for all the responses.

Congradulations truly.

VERY few people can actually lift 3x their body weight in ANY lift. Great Job that is one of my goals. You are strong Mofo!

Karma for that lift!

I feel for you bro.. hehe only 6 plates in the gym.. cant be as bad as mine though.. we only have 35 pounders in the place.. which means when i deadlift.. its from really really low off the ground.

I think it's time for me to switch gyms heh.

LOL!

You can try lifting off of upside down 25s.

Other than that hey at least you know you are getting good ROM!

That involves more hamstrings no?

Hey man if it's free you do what you gotta do!

congrats

that reminds me I'm supposed to try a 405 pull as well sometime soon :)
I lift without any belts or straps either.

Well just work your way up to it and use good form. I have never injured myself deadlifting.

You won't break anything. 405 is not that much.
