History Was Made Today When Joe Mazza Of Nazareth Barbell, Benched More Than Any Other Man On The Planet Ever At The 165 Pound Weight Class.
After A Disasterous Trip To Orlando Last Weekend To Compete In The The Wpo Bench Bash, Which Was Stopped Short By Hurricane Jeanne, Joe Travelled Back To Pennsylvania, Worked A Full Week As A Police Officer And Showed Up At Gene Rychlak's Ipa Sanctioned Meet Put It All On The Line.
Joe Opened Conservatively With 580 Pounds. He Had A Bit Of Trouble Touching, But Shot The Weight Up. He Then Raised The Bar To 600, An Easy Up. Joe Called 608 For His Third Lift, This Would Exceed The Record Set The Previous Weekend By German Sensation Marcus Schick By 1 Pound. Joe Took The Hand Off, Brought The Bar Down Right Into The Support, As Coached By Mike Miller, Got The Press Call And Shot The Weight To Lockout Position. Because He Made All Three Of His Attempts, Joe Was Granted A Fourth. For This He Called 615 Pounds. Joe Got The Hand From Rychlak, Took The Bar Down Under Control, Shot It Up When He Got The Press Call And Held It Locked Out At Millers Command For A Five Count. It Was An Amazing Feat Of Power And Tenacity.
Joe Mazza Is The World's Biggest 165 Pound Bencher With 615!!!!!

JHoe did the lift in a standard double denim from Inzer he does not squat or dead because he wroks full time as a cop and barley has enough time to workout as it is....Joe also does 450 raw with ease.

holy shit, not to brag but i really should get myself a shirt, i weigh just a hair over 165, and i've been able to do 455 3 times, 1 rep max being 475 (possible 480) all raw

There is alot more to using a shirt than just putting it on bro.

obviously i know it doesnt just add the weight when u put the shirt on but i do very well in the raw competitions, so i might have to invest in a shirt and see what the results are after i find my groove and such.

Are you close to Nazareth Pa.

I like the part about "He had trouble touching". I've worn bench shirts before but I've never had any problems getting the bar down to my chest. Call me cynical, but the lifts a lot of these guys are putting up are cheapened by the advances in equipment. A shirt just should not add 150-200 lbs. to someone's bench.

It isn't as simple as that... there is a certain proficiency that can and should must be gained with using the shirts support - as said earlier in the thread - it isn't as easy as just putting on the shirt...

There is a lot of technique involved. If it was so easy to get 150-200lbs out of a shirt, everyone would do it - and everyone can't do it... It takes a lot of work in itself...

If the equipment is allowed, and using the same equipment, one dude gets 50lbs out of it, and another gets 150lbs, is it the fault of the guy that got more out of it that he knows how to use it better?

Not a flame - just my 2c bro...
