Madcow's no longer active. It's good without him, but probably not 'all time best' w/out his active input. Honest assessment.

I assume thats a no then??

I think its a fair assessment

what am i saying? this is just like a gym. torn right in half. back talking, bickering, gossip, the only thing we ain't doing right now is training. shame on y'all.

There is no "best" time. It has had ebb and flows just like all boards. I use it mostly for research, but that is easier for me as a plat, than a non-plat.

Since I've been around I'd say yes, madcow is still lurking here and there is more then enough of his great posts archived and easily accessed though the forum.

Though I don't see how this poll can show anything at all. It's like saying, which era is better the big block muscle car era or the days of the turbo/ supercharger and compact cars of today?

Most older people that lived in that era will say we liked it better in the old days, and the younger, newer people will say we like it the way it is today with all the technology advances, "what si a carburetor?".

Honestly, what’s your point, The Shadow? To say “told ya’ so!” when the votes are tallied and the “no’s” win? Nobody said this forum is the best it’s ever been. Your poll is a red herring.

Not voting is the only honest vote. If you’re new, you don’t know what it was like in the past. And if you’re old but not active here, you don’t have an accurate picture of what it’s like today. And chances are, anyone who abandoned this forum had a reason and probably now have a negative attitude toward it and is, thus, likely to vote “no.” I mean, who’s going to say the forum has gotten BETTER now that they’re gone?

This is truly a boneheaded, ill-conceived move, particularly from such a well-respected, elite member as The Shadow.

IMO, this forum was at its best on October 28, 2005, at 11:34 AM EST. Or, in other words, a forum is always evolving and trying to pinpoint a single "best" time strikes me as futile and arbitrary.

Nobody is disagreeing with you that things could and should be done to improve this forum, The Shadow. But I'm not sure how a poll like this helps achieve that and second BW's motion for a lock.

For all-time you need to have been here since EF began. I can say around 2000/2001 it was rubbish, far better now - although admittedly I didn't spend a lot of time but there certainly was something that made me run for the hills. I can say when I first started posting in here recently (within the past 1-2 years) it was also rubbish and is far better now. Between those times maybe it got much better or hit a pinacle for some people - certainly I popped in a few times a read some of Arioch's or other's stuff and was quite happy to poke around.

That said, what is 'best'. Who knows but no matter how good it was, it didn't last because this board was horrendous when I started posting here again. I'm not saying it's great or perfect now or all-time but it is absolutely improved and people are making steady, consistent, and predictable gains in progress without relying on drugs. Information is reasonably well organized and there's a core group of helpful people to help out when someone is looking for the best exercise to 'isolate their inner-pecs' and some nimrod gives him reverse grip alternative cable ass squeezes and tells him it's all the rage and his personal trainer suggested it.

So I'm not really sure if 'all-time best' is relevant, because it's gone and it became just as bad as it was before whatever peak. B Fold is still here some, maybe convince some others to come back I'm sure they'd be welcomed. It's pretty easy to spot good training advice and experience if you've had any exposure whatsoever. Diversity and variety is good, but so are newb posts because forums get damn boring when there's nothing to discuss or explain. Some of the best forums I know of that are stacked with elite coaches are basically shoot the shit sessions. It takes questions to bring out the knowledge so it's important that someone be asking them.
