Is there an actual limit of how much muscle you CAN gain weekly?

Yea I remember hearing about Casey Viator, didnt he gain like 60lbs of muscle in a month or so?

mbridge, what's your weight now? How many carbs/protein/fat are you taking in?

Im 170lbs and I was gonna aim for 300g+ carbs, 250g+ protein and let fat fall where it does -- probably around 80g or less but that seems like a lot of carbs.

I think i'm gonna do 200g's carbs, 250g protein, and probably 80g or less fat. Which totals around 2500 calories. I don't want to end up gaining 15lbs in a few months and most of end up being fat. I would rather gain slow and stay lean.

depending on your metabolism, you might not gain at all on 2500 calories a day. I have an average metabolism and maintenance for me at 180'ish was 2800-3100 depending on activity. But it's not a big deal, I'm sure you'll be able to figure out what works for calories.

If I go higher, should I just increase protein? 300grams of carbs seems like a lot. Aren't carbs only used for energy and excessive carbs stored as fat?

My goal really is to just gain LEAN body mass slow, I want to stay lean especially since summer's coming up.

Right now I'm 173 from 167. I'm eating somewhere around 300+ protein and 300+ carbs, letting fats fall where they may. My calories are somewhere around 3200+. For my protein, I eat alot of tuna, chicken breast, cottage cheese, and I fill in with whey protein during breakfast and after workouts. I'm eating about 6 small meals each day.

There may be no "one" limit on the amount of muscle you can add in a week. I think adding a pound of muscle in a week would rock the cat's ass! But think about it this way... even in the most optimal conditions, you certainly cannot add on more muscle than the protein you take.

Fats and carbs cannot be turned into protein, so the protein you build with is from the protein you eat. That could be one limit.

If this was happening you'd be putting on 48 lbs of LBM a year...

Some times I'm evidently not very good with numbers.... instead of just thinking 52 weeks in a year in my head like a normal person I multiplied 12(the amount of months) by 4(amount of weeks generally in a month)...

LOL...

I think somebody must have bleached my hair.. lol

So if it's limited to the amount of protein you intake, why not eat more? Excessive amounts get stored as fat but so do carbs, so why eat so many carbs and not a crazy amount of protein?

hey i just came off a very low calorie diet (cutting) and in 1 week in 2 weeks have put on 10 lbs of lbm i havnt gained any bf is this possible becuase my muscles could have been thriving on it and it happends everytime i cutt and bulk.

90% of it is water....

When I stop cutting its not unusual for me to put on 10 lbs in 2 weeks and over 20 in a month...
