Is the Maybach really worth $432,000 ???

I mean come on.. yeah it has 2 reclining rear seats, besides that, anything else special...same amenities as other luxury cars ? besides being a v12 6.0 liter..

for that amount of $ , i'd get a porsche gt3 and a used rolls azura....

The people who buy this car normally aren't concerned wether or not it's worth it. They buy it without even asking how much it is.

Just out of curiosity, where did you get the $432K figure? The 2004 MSRP on the hoss one, the 62, is $357K. The one Outkast was accused of crashing into the store window on Punked was said to be worth $375K from the guy acting as the Maybach rep.

that's the price after xzibit pimps his ride

How does one determine worth anyway?

Cars can only be so unique with regards to features and whatnot.

A fully loaded Honda Accord has pretty much what a fully loaded Benz, Bimmer, Rolls Royce, Bentley, etc have.

WTF??

Maybe a 3 series BMW.....but Rolls, Bentley..??..??

I highly suggest you drive the Continental GT before comparing it to anything, much less an Accord. :)

now that's a good one, you are forgetting the chick pulling factor

You girls did not read the words "features and whatnot", implying interior features. The point is, if you look at cars strictly from a neutral standpoint taking price and brand name out of it, cars can only be so different. You got moonroofs, leather (or suede or whatever other fancy fabrics), GPS, so many seating positions, and all these other little gadgets and gizmos. Besides engine and name (ie chick pulling factor), really what difference is there in a 7 series versus 5 series versus Benz whatever versus Bentley versus Lexus etc etc.

Girls. :)

If you think you're going to get a brand new Maybach at MSRP, you're sadly mistaken. I've been in one and will probably be in only one, ever. It was a ridiculous nice ride. It's not something you buy to drive, it's something you buy to be driven in.

Actually your wrong. The 57 is something you buy to drive and the 62 is the one typically converted into an executive transport. Either way they're both nice cars......but I'd take a new Bentley Continental Flying Spur over the Maybach any day of the week......for that matter an Arnage as well.

At a $400K price point I would rather have the double R than the Maybach.

If I were thinking Bentley I would slap myself around and get an Aston Martin. But we've already had that talk on another thread.

This is a pretty good point. This thread's topic should be split between the 57 and 62. IMHO the 57 is not worth it because the mobile office features aren't anything really special and driving the damn thing isn't as much fun as getting a real "driver's" car.

The 62 is kind of in a class of its own as a town car. If they's ramp up production they could sell a lot more of those, and I'd bet more than half could go to corporate buyers in Manhattan looking for perks to add to the executive comp packages.

For a job in college I drove a very powerful COO around in a Maybach. Took me about a week to get ahold of the car. No car is worth 432,000 when it could go to a better cause...but its definitely a real car not just a comfy ride.

I don't have a ton to compare it to, I've never driven any other ultra fancy cars (next best car I've driven is a lexus)

I did work for the chairman of RBC financial who happened to own 1 of the only 2 Maybachs in Canada, and Ill tell ya, this fucking car was hot to trot!!!! Go have a good look at one up close.

Not to mention they're 550 horse power!

Go to the site and watch the movie also. Its pretty facinating to see the work that goes into them.

yea.. except quality of product/overall class is severly lacking in a Honda compared to the high-end classes.

dale, that 550 horses pushes around a 5000 pound hunk of steel. It aint THAT fast..... Ive driven AMGz, M5s, 745's, and even rode in a McClaren f1. Now beside from the sheer fun of the F1(should be for 1 million) no car ive driven/rode in compairs to a 2000 STS..... No other car company utilizes Road sencing suspension(every 5 miliseconds, a computer sences bumps in the rode and inflates the sir shocks.) and auto ride leveling suspension. Cadillac, to me, is the apidimy of luxury ride.
Not to mention, the only reason for the expensiveness of bmw's and benzes is import taxes. In german, a mersades benz is the equivalent to our ford crown vic. Used as cop cars, taxis, and everyday drivers.

I am German bro, so I do understand that the Mercedes is pretty much crap. As for the Maybach, Im not sure you have actually read anything about ir or know anything about it for that matter if all you consider it is a piece of steel. its weight is only about 3500kg, and its actually considered a fairly light weight car. I would strongly suggest you read a bit more on their site and look at the specs of the car before you call it a piece of steel.
