Is Mike Mentzer really dead or is this just more rumors that is associated with him? Mike is an inspiration to many bodybuilders and if this is true then he will be missed. If it is true RIP brother.

If true, then we all should pray for his family

i read on another board, the IART board, the founder used to be very close to Mike (but as of lately is a mortal enemy since he picked out holes in his methods) that the cause of death was a stroke or heart attack from what he understood. looks to be true, this is tragic indeed.

yup

He's dead -- and then his brother (who found the body) died today -- three days later!!!

Weird shit.

MIKE MENTZER DIES OF HEART ATTACK — HIS BROTHER RAY FOUND DEAD TUESDAY MORNING!
Mike Mentzer, legendary bodybuilding competitor and writer, died suddenly Saturday, June 9, of an apparent heart attack. Mentzer’s body was discovered by his younger brother Ray Mentzer Sunday in the apartment they shared in Redondo Beach, California. Then, in a shocking development, Ray Mentzer was found dead Tuesday morning, June 12. The cause of death has not been determined as of this time. We'll bring you more details of this developing story as soon as possible. Mike Mentzer was 49 years old. Ray Mentzer was 47.
According to John Balik, publisher of Ironman, where the elder Mentzer most recently worked, Mike had been in ill health lately and was contemplating treatment for his ongoing cardiac problems. In past interviews, Mike had mentioned that his family had a history of heart disease, and that his own father died relatively young from a heart condition.
Mentzer was the creator of the popular Heavy Duty training system, and his articles appeared for decades in many of Joe Weider’s publications. While he never won the Mr. Olympia, Mentzer was considered to have one of the greatest physiques of his time
