post the article assnuts.

LOL, actually it's in Rhea County. Sounds like a real swingin' town.

DAYTON, Tenn. - The county that was the site of the Scopes "Monkey Trial" over the teaching of evolution is asking lawmakers to amend state law so the county can charge homosexuals with crimes against nature.

The Rhea County commissioners approved the request 8-0 Tuesday.

Commissioner J.C. Fugate, who introduced the measure, also asked the county attorney to find a way to enact an ordinance banning homosexuals from living in the county.

"We need to keep them out of here," Fugate said.

The vote was denounced by Matt Nevels, president of the Chattanooga chapter of Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.

"That is the most farfetched idea put forth by any kind of public official," Nevels said. "I'm outraged."

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Texas' sodomy laws as a violation of adults' privacy.

Rhea County is one of the most conservative counties in Tennessee. It holds an annual festival commemorating the 1925 trial at which John T. Scopes was convicted of teaching evolution. The verdict was thrown out on a technicality. The trial became the subject of the play and movie "Inherit the Wind."

In 2002, a federal judge ruled unconstitutional the teaching of a Bible class in the public schools.

It's also illegal in some or all parts of Tennessee to have sex in positions other than the missionary position. Think about all the people committing crimes....:P

Shouldn't they first back up and outlaw incest?

make up your minds. some marry them. some will charge you if you lick carpet or suck dick.

will the supreme court get off their asses and hear this case already? That's how gov't works. Just keep bouncing it around courts taht way no one has to officially "decide" on the issue.

I know there's a lot of jokes on here, but in all seriousness it all depends where you are at in Tennessee. Places where Phatchick & I live are nice populated areas where everybody gets along for the most part. However there are certain places/counties I would not want to be in if I were homosexual and likewise some if I were black. It all depends on where you're at as to how the local people are.

by the way, Phatchik's hometown is one of those incest places you spoke of. ;)

Hell, the city where my university is located is like No. 2 and or No. 3 city in the nation for the homosexuality.

That's just a rumor. No matter where you go people will say that about a local city.

I was at a professor's house last weekend and he & his wife has traveled a lot and said that it is indeed the case.

With JC, it's probably the case.

Those old sodomy laws are coming off of most state law books and are rarely enforced. I do think that there will be a backlash however, on this Gay Marriage issue being forced upon us by the Courts in Mass and the Mayor in SF and elsewhere. That's what we are seeing in Tennessee.

Bush will ensure that this remains a campaign issue. Looks like the dems can't count on losing Tennessee again.

I wonder how most Floridians feel about this subject?
