Is holding water genetic or cause by strictly what u eat

viciousness

New member
I went from 266 to 271 overnight last night, How and why. I definitely cheated by eating some pizza but my other meals were the same besides some late night carb binge with a bagel. This has happend to me before jumping like4-7 lbs in a night even without eating high sodium foods and stuff. Any explination or studies on water retention is it genetic or strictly varying on the macro nutes in the food

no usually just in the am like 20 minutes after I wake up before my first meal. Should i be weighing in at night aswell?

I always weigh the least in the morning, and water retention is significantly less in tha AM for me as well (probably why I weigh the least too).

same but every so often after a cheat meal the next morning ill only once in a while come up like 3-6lbs heavier, i kno its a bitchmade question but me and a couple of my boys at the gym have been all skeptical why. Figured id put it out here incase anyone knows

Your glycogen stores can vary by as much as 500g, and each g of glycogen attracts 4g of water.

Plus, in addition to intra-muscular water retention (described above), a sodium rich meal can cause general fluid retention.

This this can accout for weight fluctuations.

+, if ur anything like me, you may be about to take a massive dump lol

Desmond, you're one knowledgeable mother fucker.

Thanks. My explanation is why when people go on diets, they becomes so excited by their first week progress (b/c they have lost so much scale weight related to depleted muscle glycogen). This effect is even more extreme on keto, which is a pro-directic diet.

Personally, I would never weigh myself on a diet for at least 3 days to determine my starting weight

ight aslong as its normal then im cool with that, just i know thats a bunch to gain in one night. it has to be water weight

i see some people that always are in shape, even in the offseason. they dont seem to hold any water at all. how do they to that?

is it all saunas, supps and cardio that keeps them from not holding water?

i want to able to do that....

How is this even possible? I mean physically, it's not possible.

:insane:

I don't understand this "holding water" Where is the water held, other than bound with glycogen? I would think that would resut in an increase in muscle volume. When I'm low on carbs, and dehydrated, I feel deflated. Why would one want to keep water weight off?

so lets say u gain 3 pounds overnight....what is the best way to get rid of it, since its just water.

would lowering the carbs for a few days do the trick and go higher on prot and fat ?
im talking about when im offseason.
