Interesting Observation

So I always head to Miami in the Winter to get out of the sever NY cold. And while I'm down there, I obviously still want to train, but the cost of a gym membership for the month is just not worth it. So I go down to the beach where a bunch of the local riff raff work out.

They have a high bar, parallel bars, and a big sack of sand. That's it. You can do pull-ups, dips, push-ups, hanging leg raises, and squats while holding the sack of sand.

Let me tell you...that gave me some of the best workouts I ever had! EVERY bodypart was sore!

AND...the guys training there were more buffed that 95% of the people at the local Crunch or Equinox.

Take that for what it is.

I learned to workout in an environment like that and it gave me crazy work ethic. the gym environment is such shit. too many old people, stupid kids, and people mirin at themselves in the mirror. then you have the shitty music playing, people sneaking in their kids to the main floor, and 8 gym managers/PT's walking around looking over peoples shoulders, and rightfully so because people have zero respect or etiquette. how hard is it to wipe you bodily fluids up or re-rack weights? or not do curls and shrugs at the squat rack when you got 5 people waiting their turn to actually squat.

that's why you see crossfit type gyms growing in popularity that are in garages or warehouses.

Best workouts are always against your own body weight on some bars or platforms.

Dumbbells and barbells are nice to isolate a muscle on a certain day, but yeah bro those big body weight movements require your whole body.

Good story to share.

You can train hard with very minimal equipment - if you have the right mindset. 90% of the equipment in the gym I don't even use.

Prison is a great example. Those guys have nothing more then some dumbbells and a chin up bar and they are able to develop some extremely impressive physiques.

As a society we want all these shiny fancy new workout machines but at the end of the day, the basics are what work and what will always work.

I fucking despise the gym atmosphere. All these fuckin gyms are fitness faggot and slut gyms now. Disgusts me. Powerhouse was decent. The one by me just closed though. There may be another I can use eventually.

If you want it bad enough you can fucking make it happen. It just requires way more pain and way more intensity. You are basically getting in way less efficent work with light weights. So you need to fucking tear the fuck out of your body to get the same kind of response. I dont doubt its possible though. You definately have to be more creative and endure alot more pain with the lighter shit.

KILL THAT SHIT

I believe in all natural training, but that has limits in terms of resistance. Adding extra weight to pull ups and dips can fix the issue, but the movements are hard to control.

Those gyms don't have squat racks in them. I think people today train for an entirely different reason than 20 years ago. It's a war against muscle mass. Nafta outsourced free weights.
