Importance of amino profile in protein powders?

Protobuilder

Wondering how big of deal the amino acid profile is in protein powders. I wonder b/c I've found some pretty cheap protein powder at Sam's Club but the amino acid profile sucks compared to Optimum Nutrition or to Champion Nutrition (both of which I like). For example, it has like 1.4g/leucine per 100 grams of powder, whereas the Optimum has about the same amount in one scoop (roughly 30 grams).

Is it that important or is it safe to buy the cheap crap?

Your body builds muscle from the amino acids, not whole proteins. If any one of the amino acids critical to building your muscles is lacking, it will most certainly limit growth.

Every protein is comprised of a unique sequence of amino acids; this amino acid profile dictates how efficiently your body can utilize this protein.

I should quantify my above post a bit probably. I believe this AA profile more important pertaining to post workout.

However, at the end of the day, as far as it goes, if you eat a typical bodybuilding diet, it probably won't matter much.

I don't think it makes that much difference.... anything lacking will be made up by the super-strict diet we all follow! ;-)

Digestibality and amino acid profile do make a difference. That's why the PCDAAS was developed. If you stick with dairy and egg sources you're getting the highest quality sources. You could get all your protein from wheat but you would have to consume a massive amount; It's just easier and more efficient(calorie wise) to get it from a quality sources as opposed to grain.
