You better not give out many more of them. You won't have any left to give.

Yes, well it would be sipping at first before you fill up on the gyros. Maybe a bite or two of the gyro to nibble on while feeling warm and fuzzy from the Scotch.

THen when you get too buzzed you wolf down the gyro to soak up the alcohol so you dont get too loose. Its a flawless system. Eat, drink and be merry!

omg i want one now. a gyro, not the alcohol. I mean i want that now too but i'd save that for later.
i get drunk easily. if i drank first, I'd get too drunk to eat.

I'd love to sit down for lunch with all those people except 1 (the fictional one can stay in fantasy land)

Trying to find a good Greek take out here is near impossible. Can't find Indian either.

I went to lunch on Sunday and ordered one, love gyros, hardly eat them b/c the meat is a bit rich but I loovvvveeee the cucumber-yogurt sauce. I can make them leaner with lamb kebobs, just marinate the lamb cubes in redwine, garlic, mint and oregano with some olive oil, broil the skewers. Slice up the tomato and grill the pita in some light olive oil. The best
I had a Reuben sandwich at dinner on Monday night that was great as well. Not the healthiest fair but damn that was good

who the hell wants takeout indian food except for jackangel????
blech.
i have tons of good greek places near me. but thats cause in the words of the very famous "the shadow"... "I rule, you drool".

pinto- bring beer too. german beer.

There's a little Greek restaurant in my home town in PA, been there for 30 years. Tiny place, incredible food. In the summer you can lunch in the shade of a grape arbor. If you are ever in Williamsport, PA and want a decent gyro, Look up the Olive Tree downtown on Third Street.

i'm getting that for dinner before school now. I can't eat much at one time so i'll have half tonight and half tomorrow.

I've often thought about opening up a restaurant with a menu that is all healthy fare with a decent atmosphere, place it neat a large spa or a gym in an affluent neighborhood. Leave it open late at night with entertainment and dancing. Bet it would draw a crowd tired of the bar scene.

Don't think it would work in a smaller community like Pensacola, unless, perhaps out on Perdido key or Orange Beach, AL.

Freudian slip, I equated shitty Italian food with Good Greek food.

You'd have to expand beyond healthy fare, those type of restaurants don't last long and cost of food is more. Go for a pizza and gyro joint. lol

If i ever opened a restaurant, I'd have live music. there's no place around her for that. and outdoor seating in the summer. or even in the fall with big heaters.

If you marinate the one inch lamb kebobs and you trim them so they isnt fat them the olive oil used in the marinade will drip off as you cook the skewers.
THe tzatziki yogurt sauce is low fat, you can olive oil if you like but waste of calories IMO. Then lightly brush the pitas and grill them in a pan warm and crispy.
Slice some fresh tomatoes and thin sliced purple onions to place with the lamb on the pita bread. Spoon some yogurt sauce on the whole thing.
Stuff is great and easy to make. Just takes some time to prepare the lamb. But you can keep in the fridge then for dinner its like about fifteen minutes to make a few of them easily. Great for dinner parties b/c prep work can be done a head of time with a nice salad.
Add some feta cheese if you like. A nice huge bowl of greek pasta salad with capers and salamis and cheeses is great too for a get together. Add some brocolli, olives and pepperocini peppers to kick up the salad. Cook some penne pasta tender but firm, wait until cool. Throw in a bottle of Newman's italian dressing a whole bottle and the other ingredients. Newman's for some reason is the best Ive tasted for greek pasta salad, coats the pasta and the salamis add flavor, oh and diced peppers as well

Its basically slow food to eat while you drink a bit of your favorite beverage b/c it tastes better as it cools down. Wrap in some tin foil to serve it if people want to drink a bit and keep it warm as they take a few bites as the dinner party progresses.
Great fun

Get a leg of lamb and trim the fat and make lean one inch cubes. Or you can buy ground lamb and ground pork, combine the two with some spices to recreate the taste of gyro meat. Lots of easy recipes for that, more fattening but of course fat tastes good.

Good times, let's make it a masquerade party, Ill make a spectacle out of myself

or a Costume party....I could wear the assless super hero suit from the Eminem video.......but I was thinking more along the line of spare ribs/tater salad & baked beans.......and a keg of Coors light.....

3 squirrels cut up, or 2 lb stew or 2 lbs venison

4 tbsp oil
2 large onions sliced
2 qt stewed tomatoes
2 cans consomme
1 can water
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp tarragon
dash of red pepper
3 carrots, sliced
2 ribs celery, chopped

Dredge meat in flour and brown in dutch oven. add onion slices and sautee for a few mins add bouillon, salt, tarragon, pepper, and tomatoes. Simmer,, covered, for 30 mins. add carrots and celery. cover and simmer 40 mins or until tender. Serve with hot crusty cornbread to soak up broth

and btw i dont know what dredge means
i think its like put flour on it, so the stew gets thick
