It's true...we are learning Evolutionary theory in me Personality Psychology class and it pretty much syas everything the human does is to ensure that it's genes are passed down to the next generation. Think about it, you brush your teeth so you don't repulse the oppsite sex so that betters your chanc at reproduction. Our society places a very big emphasis on grooming and has tought us that bad rotting teeth is not acceptable...thus taking away from your chances of planting seeds/ or getting your egg fertilized in your case. The unconscious has great pull on what you do with out even knowing.
