I just thought of a hypothetical Q

Say I'm a DEA agent in CA and I want to get promoted, couldn't I put a 100 kilos of crack in a box, put the name and corresponding addy of some random person on it, rang the door bell, asked for sig(I order so much stuff online I get a package everyday. I'll sign anything with my name on it even if I don't recognize the return addy since some internet companies don't use the same name on the box as the website and even on the CC), they signed and took in house, opened box, I bust in with guns draw. I've then caught them red handed, even if they have a clean house.

Is such a scenario possible?

Of course anything is possible but you're leaving too many questions unanswered with your scenario. First of them being, promotions don't happen outta the blue just because you bust someone. Shit, if that was the case, I'd have made Lieutenant during my short time 5 years in law enforcement.

Further, how did you find out about the "shipment" to the suspect, did you run your story down to the judge and get a warrant..........etc., etc. Far fetched for just a promotion scenario IMO.

I'm assuming someone from the LE community could fill in the blanks with a perfect scenario.

Say the DEA agent has a fake informant that told him so and so is expecting a major shipment of crack, he then get's some sorta surveillance warrent from a judge, records a fake telephone conversation with supplier using victims voice sayin that the shipment will arive via UPS on this date. DEA agent drives to AZ mails 1 gram of crack, then booby traps the box so when the victim open's it that starts a fire. I think you guys can figure out the rest.

What if that person whos box you use is an old grandmother, 80 years old on her way out? Where are you getting 100kilos of blow from anyway? Hell you could sell it and make more money than your little promotion would get ya.
