I eat other stuff throughout the day (eggs, beef) but this comprises 3 out of my 7 daily meals.
The website says there's no problem which is why I believe it over the EPA. I don't like problems.
some kid in california developed some serious cardiomyopathy and they didn't know why. I think he eventually died and when they did the autopsy they found heavy traces of mercury in his heart tissue. When you get metals in your heart tissue they disrupt the "vital" flow of electricity throughout the heart to make it pump right. The kid was some kind high school athlete and they found that he had gone to a diet inspired by some bodybuilders where he ate nothing but cans of tuna all day. There simply is no other way this kid could have been exposed to those levels of mercury. Beleive the EPA, cause if you talk to sushi owners.....like legitimate "japanese" owners of a sushi restaurant, they will tell you they are very hesitant about tuna caught off the coast of the U.S. I personally had this discussion with the owner of a place I went to all the time in frisco. He even showed me a slab of maguro (raw tuna) that he caught after inspection and he put up to the light and you could see tiny little shiny things in the blood rivulets. Than he showed me a comparative slab that was caught in japan. So I don't care even what the EPA or anybody else say's, I saw it with my own two eyes. Case closed for me. I still eat tuna, but not like I used to.
+1. i would eat lower mercury tuna, not albacore. starkist light if you must do it frequently. The olympic powerlifter i knew who competed ended up getting mercury poisoning and it messed him up a ton. be careful....
Yes, but did you check out the link?I eat other stuff throughout the day (eggs, beef) but this comprises 3 out of my 7 daily meals.

i heard someone was talking shit on olive oil up in this bitch.
watch yaself
Bor, as a half guido I tend to bathe in olive oil and occasionally use it to season my water.
I do eat only starkist light tuna, which apparently has less mercury.

"Rick Berman's Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) claims that its mission is to defend the rights of consumers to choose to eat, drink and smoke as they please. In reality, CCF is a front group for the tobacco, restaurant and alcoholic beverage industries, which provide all or most of its funding."
Basically, right up there with tobacco manufacturer's paying doctors to come up with tests that prove cigarettes are not harmful and nonaddictive.
The EPA says the frigging fluoride in our drinking water is harmless. If THEY're saying tuna has a too damn much mercury, I'm listening. They don't benefit shit if we don't eat the shit. I mean, do your thing, but I live in the midAtlantic region. I can take you to, literally, hundreds of places where you can fish, but it's clearly marked "DON'T EAT WHAT YOU CATCH. Consuming more than 6 oz. of fish from these waters in a 6 month period of time could constitute a serious health risk."
I mean, I know I'm not the brightest bulb in the box, but I know better than to drink out of a bottle marked:

.

The problem with heavy metals is they're very hard, if not impossible, for our bodies to remove. Nothing good cancels it out.Bor, I'll post a Time magazine article from the head of Harvard's toxicology department who kinda says the same thing.
Maybe the awesomeness of all the olive oil and garlic I mix with it will cancel out the mercury.![]()
(the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland was mad because hat makers were nuts from inhaling the mercury vapors during the process of curing felt).Bor, as a half guido I tend to bathe in olive oil and occasionally use it to season my water.

Take this while you are eating your tuna.
Arizona Natural Products Calcium Disodium EDTA -- 500 mg - 100 Capsules - Vitacost
It will completely bind the mercury in the tuna. Take it about midway through your tuna meal. It will work best if you are not mixing the tuna with other stuff like pasta, i.e tuna salad.
EDTA is not a "natural" or herbal product. It's an industrial product. It will bind minerals in your gut like a motherfucker so go easy with it.
how fucking sad is it though that we even have to worry about this shit?
I blame the japs.
your skin might start repelling live amunition soon what with all that mercury you're ingesting.......lol
Good lookin out. Hopefully this binding shit will turn me into a Magneto type supervillian.
not teh messicans?
eat more, so if you die the rest of us know what's up. thanks
Nah bor...tuna isnt made with cholula hot sauce or refried beans so I dont think they have any stake in this.

The mercury was the first thing I thought of. I would try fresh tuna instead of packaged.
EDTA isn't exactly environmentally friendly. What's the point of trading out cancer for mercury poisoning?

I've been eating this much per day for a few weeks now. I love it.
According to fishscam.com, I'm in the clear.
I'm not sure you know much about EDTA as it is used in homeopathy. Not a slam. Tiny amounts taken internally aren't carcinogenic. Even gram dosages taken intravenously can be very helpful for treating heavy metal buildup.
Now if you look for stuff on the Internet associating homeopathic EDTA with cancer, I'm sure you can find it. But you can also find reports of black pepper causing cancer too.
