There’s Gay; then there’s Bolt & Spearmon;
then there’s all the people fighting for non-medal
spots…
Based on ’07 form Gay is an overwhelming favorite,
but a balky knee and four rounds of the 100 may
leave him slightly vulnerable…
Based on ’06 form (where he beat the Jamaican
5–1), Spearmon would be ahead of Bolt, and in
’07, they’re 2–2, but Bolt has won the last two and
sports a new 10.03 century PR, so we give him a
very narrow edge… Lane draw may decide it…
Behind the Big 3 the dropoff is startling. Obikwelu
hasn’t broken 20 since his PR year and nobody
else ever has…
