I think I am going to stop working out for a while

I bust my ass everyday for what? Both my shoulders hurt rediculously by the end of my shoulder and chest days, my left bicep is to the point where I can't even scratch my nose with out it hurting, and all my muscles twitch constantly.

You say what about the women Bobber? More guys come up to me and feel on me or ask me about lifting than women and when women do talk about it all the do is laugh as if I was some douche bag. I am seriously thinking about laying off for a while after 7 years of busting my ass.

Damn man. That's understandable if you're hurting that much. When was the last time you took a length of time off? A month or two can do some amazing things to injuries. Then all you have to do is keep focused on them and take the appropriate week off when they flare up.

A month or two off? I took a few weeks off over the Xmas break. It was so nice...no joints clicking or popping, no pain. I lost a shit load of weight but I don't know if I care about being "big" anymore. All this and I am really not even big when you look at the numbers. Plus my weight and strength are both stagnant as fuck right now. I can't break these plateus even though I am on. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

Not saying this is you, but I've always shook my head at people who train by lifting more than they need to, trying to look impressive and all.

I am not strong, I don't claim to be, and I don't brag nor try to impress in the gym. I lift moderate weight with proper form, even if it makes me look like a wimp in the gym.

However, I never have any injuries and I'd put my physique up against almost anyone with similar weight outside of the gym.

Sometimes when you get really focused on breaking a plateau people go heavier than they should and don't use perfect form. I do it all the time

Do you lift to failure? If so, I'd say that's a big part of it. I stopped going to failure recently and I've made great gains because I can work each muscle more frequently and I get less joint pains.

I will admit I've had quite a few shoulder injuries from lifting heavy

...my heavy penis that is! :p

Do you follow that "kill that shit" doctrine that is preached on the training forum? If so, back off on the intensity. Remember, you want to stimulate the muscle, not annihilate it. Personally, I never train to failure, and I also train in a higher rep range(8-15reps).

Maybe its the pink shirt.

dayum dude.............u r too young to be hurting that much.

how about just cutting back on the frequency and the intensity some instead of quitting all together?

Are you taking any supplements? Try using a joint supplement that has Glucosamine and Chondroitin in it. I used to have the same problems as you, but after using this stuff the pain is gone. It takes a couple of weeks to notice anything so stick with it. Good luck.

:)

That's like telling theShadow to slow down on his posting instead of quitting.......it's still gonna hurt us!

Every year I try to take a four week break from lifting. I may still do cario but no weights. I also take on week out of every nine off to keep from killing my joints. Listen to you body and give it a rest when it asks.

Cheers,
Scotsman

AAP - Yes I go balls to the wall every lifting session. I do heavy weight but only because I can and my form is good. I would say I am in the top 10% at my gym, but that is not saying much because it is transitioning into a pussy ass rec.

Strangebrew - Yes I lift to failure. Hell most of the time i do a couple forced reps. I have never known anything but.

Jarhead - Chondroitin does not work. I have tried it numerous times. The pain I feel in my shoulders is that of a crazy burning sensation that is alleviated only when I raise my arms and try to pull my arm out of the shoulder...not really but that motion.

Tuc - Like I said more guys feel on me than girls so I dont think I will be missing anything.

You're over training.
Take a month off, lose yourself in something new - your outlook will change and grow.

worst sentence ever, but you get what I mean
