I kicked the Professor's ass...!

king gambit is incredibly unstable, in the hands of a creative player its an ultimate weapon.

Right on. King's Gambit is called "The Master's Opening" because only masters should play it. It is an incredibly volatile opening that leads to an onslaught attack.

Whole tournaments used to be played KG because it led to such interesting games... but it is not remotely unbeatable.

The Professor is a master of KGA... and beating him at KGA is in Chess circles something akin to whooping B-Fold's ass at the Strong Man.

I play KGA Bishop Variation as my response. It is a deadly response for black and I have beaten a couple masters with it.

You've got my handle at the Chess site. Hook up and I can show you his play and my response.

Want to prove yourself to me in some Yahoo chess? :D

Um... bro... Yahoo is the cesspool of Chess. ICC and FICS are the main sites.

Inviting somebody to Yahoo is like saying that the powerlifitng competiton is going to be held at Bally's or 24 Hour Fitness.

alright i'll bite. Have you got any tips for improving one's chess game? I'm probably a lower level intermediate, sometimes i can see everything developing and other times I'm blind.

Play, play, and more play. Nothing that you study is applicable if you don't play and use it.

I've played more than 10,000 blitz games on FICS.

Play gives you pattern recognition.

Other than that, learn an opening for White... and learn King's pawn and Queen's pawn response for black. Openings are critical.
