i am benching more than i squat

never ever wanted to be one of those guys and since high school i've fought not to be.
but i've not been able to freeweight squat in over a yr (fuggin gym i go to doesn't have a rack and i live in BFE...i can front squat and smith squat though)
...first few times back at it i'm having to work to 5*5 245.
don't know if i could ever get back to were i was, seems so impossible

Are you in a fraternity, do you wear pukka shell necklaces, and are your tips frosted?

If you answer no to any of these three things your bench to squat descrepency is unacceptable.

I've got the same problem. I do a 6 x 5 and lately can't complete last set with 225.
Probably all those years of doing upper body and neglecting squats cuz it was hard. I enjoy them now I'm just not good at them compared with upper body presses.
 
I'm the opposite. When I'm carbed up and 100% my squats are in the mid 400's. My best bench is 275x5 with a close grip. I see guys way smaller than me out pressing me on a daily basis. They suck.

no to all the above...i'm suprised there isn't more carryover from all the other leg shit i do.
been dl'ing consistently for 5-6 yrs, and my numbers are still strong there...but not squatting for about 15 months def takes a toll.
i thought front squatting would carryover more as well, but i'm limited with how much weight i can do w/o a rack...a bitch picking it off the ground
 
Smith squats should keep your squat above your bench, bor. Not as good as free weight squats I agree, but you should be able to go really heavy and really low.

That's nothing.

I do side laterals with more weight than I deadlift.

(cause I don't do deadlifts)

Probably the only reason I do squats is so that I won't be one of those guys.

And I never tried to get to full potential at squats. Every time I increase my bench, I up the squat too to make sure it stays 20lb higher.

That way I can avoid being a douche but still be lazy.
