I've been having alot of low-tyroid symptoms, also my mom and aunt is diag. hypothyroid. I have had a TSH test done a few times and the doc always says its low but not low enough to treat, since Oct/ I've been slowly gaining weight although I workout 5 days a week, lift 3 days and eat clean, occasionally I slip but not enough to put on 15 lbs. in 6 months. My no's are 4.39 TSH. Does anyone else have this situation? I need some outside advice on how to lower my no's. I also got a CBS done. B-12 was extremely high 1391, BUN was High 27, Glucose low 67 and RBC low 4.02.

Could this be why I'm tired and can't lose the weight. I'm female, 38, 143lbs. usually 128 and 5'5 ft. Any advice would be greatly aprecciated.

I have been hypothyroid since 12. Your TSH still in the normal range....ideally it should be 1-2 but less than 5 is okay.

Have you had your testosterone level check? Fatigue and weight gain can be indicative of low T levels especially if your libido has dropped off.
Total T of 30 or less with symptoms of low testosterone needs to be treated with suplementation. Do a search on this forum in regard to test replacement for women.

Yes, last time my test. was checked the doc said i didn't have any way low for a female. The doc. I go to now will not ck. it, according to him as long as my cycle is reg. there is no need to ck. it. I'm pretty frustrated, because I have very low libido also. and have a hard time putting any any muscle.

I meant putting on muscle. :) I did the search and i will go get my T ck.ed by a endocrinologist :) Have you heard of good results w/the patch or the gel?

Get another doctor! If you libido is poor it is worth testing for sure.... and yes if your T level is brought up to at least 50ng/dl your results in the gym will improve and you will likely find it easier to loose weight too.

Husband answering now, the wife is in bed.

I'm pissed that her doctor is putting up a wall to not test for her levels. I offered to call him Mon. morning and read him the riot act, but she'd rather take a less confrontational route. The fact that the doctor is acting like this is pissing me off and I wanted him to know that fact...

...before we go to somebody else who has better listening skills.

low lobido, tired and sluggish even after getting 12 hrs. of sleep, hard to gain Lean muscle.

It really started after the birth of my 2nd child. I have two, one 5 and one 3yrs. felt like I never got enough sleep, I did 3 triathalons 2 summers ago, and with all the training my lower half was still lagging, eating clean also.

Ovarian Testosterone production can drop after child birth and never come back to decent levels.

Then again your fatigue and low libido could be a result of stress....after all you have a husband(stress) two little kids(stress++) and probably a job outside the home(more stress)

Some people, especially women(sorry girls) have a low natural libido anyway and perhaps yours was always a little on the low side. I am going to get with this one but here it goes.....some men think that there women has a low libido when i fact they don't ...it the man that has a very high libido. Most men that I know would like to have sex daily and put them on a little androgen and LOOK OUT!!

So you need to get your T levels checked right away. Total T of less tha 30 with symptoms means that you need more testosterone. Free test should be checked as well and it should be at least 1.9.

Best of luck...and get a new doctor as this one doesn't listen to you. I recommend an endochrinologist that does female test therapy.....he or she will also further look at your TSH as it is borderline. BTW...I tried to go off my T4 a number of years ago hoping that my thryroid would "kick in"...my TSH went up to 60! Most people that are diagnosed with true hypothyroidism have a WAY HIGHER TSH than you did.....but then again your thyroid might just be starting to shut down and it can sometimes take years to fully shut down.
See an endo.
