Hurricane Rita and gas prices

Eastern Canada still gets its oil from Norway I believe because it's less expensive than refining and importing oil from Alberta.

Fair enough but they ain't getting hit by a hurricane :)

There is no explanation other than oil profiteers fucking us because they can.

The heating season is going to be a true mother fucker.

The only way we in Canada could be affected by shortages is if we are increasing our exports to the US to alleviate your issues. So in other words, we're getting screwed because all our shit is heading south to help out. Sweet.

not saying you WILL have a shortage, most likely only a small area will have shortages if that.

it is the perception of a shortage plus, it is sold as futures, so shortages affect everyones price.

True and the reason that affects us so much is NAFTA. The brilliant twits that signed that agreement guaranteed 60% or our oil and gas to the US regardless if we have enough for ourselves.

I live in southern Mississippi, we had gas lines here yesterday, crazy people, every gas station in town sold out of gas. But still paying 2.49 a gallon for regular.

Are you serious? That's total bullshit. $2.25 a litre is $8.50 a gallon.
Just curious. How do you do your conversion. I calculate 4 litres to the U.S. Gallon & the Canadian Dollar is $0.85 U.S..

One litre is 3.78 US gallons. You don't do the dollar conversion because you aren't paying for the gas in US dollars. People always convert into US dollars but I make Canadian and pay in Canadian. They're worth the same amount within your own country ;)
