humalin r vs humalog?

XXXL

New member
i'm currently using 1g per week of test, 100mg EOD of fina, 6 ius gh, and insulin. (humalin r)

i just read that humalog is OTC in canada. i live about 10 minutes away from canada and i'm wondering if it's worth picking up the humalog?

is there that big of difference between the two? i know humalog is better, but how much better? i'm wondering if the difference is enough to justify picking up the humalog.

thanks!

I love humalog...it's quick and to the point. Pm me if you find out the answer to your question....otc in canada?

Humalog Acts Like the Body's Own Insulin At Mealtime

Humalog is a mealtime insulin that offers people with diabetes convenience, control and flexibility. Its unique rapid-action mimics your body's own insulin activity after meals. Humalog is absorbed quickly and starts working within minutes to lower your blood sugar. In fact, Humalog is the #1 mealtime insulin prescribed by doctors who specialize in treating diabetes.¹

Good, Convenient Control

With Humalog, you can enjoy good blood sugar control and "dose and eat" convenience. Other mealtime insulins, such as Regular (R), should be injected 30-45 minutes before eating. If Regular (R) insulin is taken at the wrong time, you risk poor blood sugar control and may increase the risk of low blood sugar.

Unlike Regular (R) insulin, Humalog is taken within 15 minutes before or immediately after a meal. Humalog's flexible dosing schedule makes it possible for you to adjust your insulin dose right at mealtime. This means you can manage your diabetes even when you run into unexpected delays or schedule changes.

With its mealtime convenience, Humalog can help you gain and maintain control over your blood sugar level. Good blood sugar control reduces your risk of long-term problems associated with diabetes.

here's a lil cut and paste for you. soo... u decide which is right for you. ;)

It's not a matter of Humalog being better .... It's a matter of the amount of time each starts working. If you want rapid shuttling of nutrients into muscle cells right after a workout then Humalog would be the best choice. It starts acting in 15 min and peaks within the next hour. If a slow steady release of insulin is what you want then another would would be better.

when i say "better" i'm refering to body building. i've been told and have read over and over that the faster acting insulin is better for those purposes and in conjuntion with GH.

true. gh and insulin work very well together and since gh is fast acting as well with a short half life in the body, good to use with a faster acting insulin. ;)

mike, do you know that half live of gh. i think i remember reading it's in the area of 2-6 hours. but i can't find that old post.

i cant fully remember either but i im pretty sure it's much less than that even. very short half life. gets converted very quickly into igf and is in and out of the system quick.

I personally see no real advantage in using one over the other. They still basically do the same thing in the end. I go with Humilin-R because it's over the counter where I live...
