HRT Opportunity

Hey All,
I stumbled upon this forum while researching Depo Testosterone. I didn't realize what my doctor prescribed for me until I got home from work today.

A little background info for you. I had been feeling like crap and was extremely fatigued all the time, so I went to see the Dr. and they took blood. My levels all came back fine except for Testosterone which was at 187. Dr. said I should start HRT, I said "Ok". They gave me a shot and said to come back in three weeks for another. I received 300mg today.

I am 36 years old and of a medium build, not overly fat and not skinny. I'm 5'11 and 230 lbs. I have a desk job and have some experience with weight training from early adulthood. I have lots of weights and exercise equipment at my home.

When I got home today, I researched what they gave me, and questions started forming of how could I maximize this opportunity with this in my system?

How do I make the most of this treatment to gain muscle, improve my physique without getting fatter ? Is any of this possible with this amount of Depo Testosterone ? ;)

Thanks All,

What! 1 shot every three weeks? Dude your doc must not know what he is doing. That is gonna send your emotions and hormones for a crazy roller coaster ride. This is not a good thing. Do some research on test injection frequency/hrt/trt ect... If I were you I would do some homework on this topic. sorry to bea buzz kill bro.

Fishak ... it won't be THAT bad ... Okay ... maybe just a bit more than not THAT bad.

I agree ... 100mg/wk would have been a LOT better ... and even more so if it was split into 50mg Mon and 50mg Thu. Nonetheless ... within the first quarter your blood levels would be higher than before and certainly within a range which would put the rollercoaster to a slow halt.

Depot Test is Testosterone bound to the cypionate ester. It has an average and consistent half life of ~8 days. This means that every 8 days the dosage of test in your system has halved. So you have been pinned with 300mg. In 8 days, that will be down to 150mg. Another 8 days and it will be 75mg and before the next 8 days have gone by and the test is down to 37.5mg, you will have another shot, which will leave you with roughly 340mg of test in your system. After 8 days, that will have halved to 170mg, 8 more and it's down to 85 and before you know it it is time to pin again and you should have around 55mg still in there ... add another 300.

Now you are on 355mg and 8 days later, 177.5, another 8 days and it's 88.75 and so on and so on ... you get the picture, right?

So your test levels will continue to build up slowly and you would, in all probability, experience some emotional ups and downs, but it shouldn't be hectic shit at all. In due time you'll reach a point where the levels of constant available test in your system should be high enough to remain stable at an acceptable number.

Now, back to your actual question ... training and growing on this Depot. Honestly ... you (an anyone else who is thinking of going down this route) should make it your first port of call to get a proper training routine and diet in order. You see, whether you will grow while training hard and heavy, or lean out while training the same ... it all gets dictated by your diet. Also, the dosage of Test you are receiving will make a difference, but it is going to be a far cry from spectacular. ONE THING THOUGH ... you WILL notice your sex drive shoot through the roof ... even on a 300mg E3W protocol.

Where are you from, as not many ppl I know refer to Cyp as Depot-Test?

Essie and Fishak, Thanks for the replies. I am from the mid west U.S.A. I referred to the name from what I read on the bottle.
Essie, what would be a good routine to capitalize on what I am on ? What type of diet would work the best ?

If I could pick a goal, it would be to feel better and change my physique to the better. I'm aware that I will not become what I once visioned as a weight lifting high school kid that wanted to stand with the icons of Flex Wheeler and Dorian Yates.

On a positive note, it's already got me changing my lazy lifestyle.

Thanks again.

First priority...Find a doctor that has a clue!! Do some homework man. Your total treatment protocol should involve T shots 1-2 times a week (done yourself), arimidex/anastrozle to control your estradiol, and HCG if you're concerned about nad size, sperm count, and for general well being.

you will be on for the rest of your life. you want to make sure this is the right decision for you

you said you had a lazy lifestyle, the solution which the doctor won't tell you (cause he makes no money that way) would be to change your lifestyle first entirely and you would probably notice your T levels start going back up to normal levels. rather than have to get an injection for the rest of your life.

before you get in too deep you should discuss options in case you change your mind in the future. the doctor never mentioned that if you attempt to come off HRT later on how bad it will be for you

Along with what Stevesmi said. In the process of stepping back and putting some research and thought into this. A good training plan and diet can, over the course of time, increase your natural test levels. The benefit of this is that you are bringing it out of yourself, as opposed to TRT which actually shuts down your test system. You could choose to remain on TRT forever; alot of guys do. But you may also want to check out this other route first to see how things go. There are supps that will support your system to make more test that you could use if you chose to try the natural way, and if you got things up to an acceptable level, you could even consider a cycle to put on some muscle; but I get ahead of things. No matter what, you can search in the forums here for exercise routines and diets. You can then post your plans for critique on the best way to move foraward with these. approaches.

Ask for the script and learn to do it yourself. One 300mg shot every 3 weeks is stupid -- too much up front and not enough by the 3rd week. You doc is ignorant on this topic.

300mg cyp every 3 weeks seems to be the standard starting dose recognized by the 'medical community'. Going to a different doc likely wont change anything unless it is a hrt specialist and not an every day endo or urologist
