How to train with a girl?

skinny minny

New member
I'm going to start training with my friend who is my age, 22. I always have lifted with other guys or by myself. Is there any changes i need to make from my workout to hers so that it fits her properly. Obviously the weights would be different. But she told me that she doesnt want to train to get big and bulky. I said that she doesnt ahve the testosterone to get that big.

You guys have any suggestions of changes or alternatives i should incorporate into our workout?

Thanks,

SkinnyMinnyMan

Uh, you do your routine and she does hers perhaps?

I am not quite sure I am understanding the question...do the same things just use lighter weights obviously.

Simply explain to her those big girls don't get that way by accident. She can do exactly the same workout you do. Squats will give her a GREAT ass. Bench pressing will make her shoulders and chest look great ..etc. You are absolutely correct, she doesn't have the testosterone to get big. The women with the big muscles work very very hard to get that way.

BTW - I'm going to be training with my girl and she's going to be doing the same routine I do. Lighter weights of course, no deads or cleans, but everything else will be the same. Squats, bench press, military presses, all the hardcore stuff.

I agree with Genarr completely. Have her train the same way that you do, just with weight she can handle. The heavier the weight I'm lifting gets, the bittier I seem to get. My bf % just keeps falling and everyone is right, she won't get big unless she's working her ass off trying to get big. As for training, squats and walking lunges will be great for her backside. ;)

I worked-out with a girlfriend of mine. It got really fustrating. She kept complaining about the number of reps and types and number of lifts. She finally pull a docs note out to get out of lifting. . she was overwieght, complained about wanted to loose, but did not want to put the effort. Might be important to talk with hereand about the workout you want to do. See if she is clear and you are. We sometimes get lost when we are lifting, forgetting the needs of both people.

Well she may not like free weights much. Most get uncomfortable on bench press and the like. So I would have her use DB's, but then again those are great for both of you.

Also she may do more inner and outer leg work (or want to), and you will feel stupid on those machines. You will get over it.

Lastly she may want to do some lunge etc. If you have never done them right before - your ass will let you know the next day :D

Thats what I end up doing w/ my girlfriend. I keep the deads in there though.

I put there ass on the treadmill and then hit the weights! I will show them some stuff and check back! I have noticed personally that it is very hard to traing with a girl with the differences in height and weight it takes forever!

LOL. I'm wondering if you're meaning that sarcastically.

lookout for a arguement if she isnt as dedicated as you,i was training with my girl and she gives up to easy and i believe it is because she is not as into it as i am ,and i got really pissed off at how she just gave up,i have now learned to be patient but she still doenst want to come back she just wont say it

anyway good luck

I work out with my girl, but she knows that its my rules or else she doesn't get to go with me anymore...she likes the hardcore attitude of a 'real' gym. Surprisingly, she follows my lead when it comes to exercises and doesn't complain - anymore. But I have worked out with other girls and its been a nightmare..I guess it really depends on the girl. I love taking her out and showing off her biceps to all the guys - its funny when they see the peak she has..

This is the way I would train a girl.
First I would tell her that she needs to work on her lower body (whether or not it's true is irrelevant). Then I would send her to do some stiff legged deadlifts but being the gentleman that I am, I would make sure her form was right. After all, safety first.

I would cup her ass into my lap to maintain stability and my magic wand (it's my own personal tool to indicate if form is right....if the wand gets a big strong signal, good form. If the signal is weak and small, bad form) would know what is up.

Best of luck in your endeavor.

Thanks for the advice...i did lift with another girl for a little while before and i actually enjoyed it. Other partners who are guys prefer their routine and i want to do things my way...most girls don't know as much and will do whatever you tell them to.

Well then..i guess its time to whip this girl back into shape...she used to be so hot in high school and college put about 15 lbs on...so its time for me to step in and make that body tight once again.

Thanks for the help

BB isn't really my thing....but Strength is Strength...I train a woman the same way I would train a man.

The guys do the same work I do, and generally they try to keep up. I've never trained a woman. All my clients/projects have been men.
Well there's my proof positive. If you've seen Spatterson's pic's you'd know she's got a body any woman would kill for.

i go to the gym w/ my girl, but she is super intense with cardio, while i am with the weights. she will burn me out real fast on the treadmill or bike, but she sissies out when it comes to weights

Now, how are you guys going to check out other chicks at the gym if you have your woman with you????? :p

Other than Hannibal getting his head cropped in that pic, that's a great shot!!! Looks like a PR shot for a band.

....

My best advice for working out with a "girl" that is not your daughter is to get her parents' permission first.
