how to stop protein farts

I'm a 26 year old female taking protein shakes to gain some weight, since it is difficult for me to gain weight from my three regular meals, the problem is that after I take my morning shakes it makes gas through the whole day, has anyone experienced that before? How can I stop gassing it very uncomfortable, thanks.

we get this question everyday

there are two reasons for this.. 1. possible dairy allergy/sensitivity and 2. lactose intolerance

you can try and eliminate the 2nd problem by getting a good quality whey isolate.. n2bm.com has good options.. isolate does not contain lactose.

however if you have a dairy intolerance like me you are best served avoiding whey protein. there are other options for you like taking a good quality BCAA. GEAR is a supplement that has super plasma protein and is dairy free. you can also consider something like a greens powder that is free of soy, dairy, and gluten.

i tell people this all the time. you need to listen to your body. if something bothers you then eliminate it.. it is called elimination diet. and it is a way to figure out what you are sensitive to

High chance its the lactose. Try to start with smaller portions of shakes, such as half of it, and incrementally increase it while your body gets used to it.

Another solution would be to supplement with enzymes, which could help with digestive processes.

The protein powder you are using most likely is a whey concentrate and contains a significant amount of lactose. A lot of adults are lactose intolerant.

You need to be using a whey isolate powder. It is slightly more expensive, but virtually carbohydrate (lactose) and fat free.

I recommend isolation from n2bm.com. Each 30g serving contains 26g protein, 1g carbohydrate and 0g fat. It is naturally flavoured and sweetened with stevia.

You could try supplementing your current protein powder with digestive enzymes and a lactase enzyme but I strongly recommend switching to isolation from n2bm.com

You could try eliminating the protein powder all together and add 2 other meals instead. 2 meals will be much better quality food than 2 shakes anyways.

The solution is pretty simple - you get those farts as a result of having lactose in your protein product, because most probably it is made with whey concentrate. If you will get a protein product made completely with whey isolate, you will not have these problems, since the isolate form does not have lactose, which is the once causing stomach issues. For instance, I had the same problem, and then I switched to Isolation by N2BM, which is made 100% of whey isolate, and those farts got drastically reduced. Therefore, try to find a protein product that is made only with whey isolate.
