Any guy who actually puts THAT much thought into shaving is about one step from creating the perfect aroma bubble bath for himself lol...
The article was right about shaving after a hot shower being best because the hairs and pores are open so the you cut the hairs shorter and your smooth look lasts longer. That's about all you need to know, though. I mentioned it in another thread, but I use a hot lather machine too, and I get pretty frequent compliments from women on how close my shave is. I got my dad one a few years back for father's day and picked up one for me too. It's been a pretty great investment. I shower every mornin, and then Mach III and hot lather do just fine for me. Don't make something so simple overcomplicated or a 30min affair.
Also, going to an old school barber shop and getting a shave with a straight blade is nice once in awhile for a big event. They will do all the BS from that mile long article for you while you just lay back, daydream, and relax. My buddies and who were groomsmen did that before a wedding once; it makes you feel rich lol.
