i've been sort of out of training for a year now, I had a lot mental issues and was diagnosed with ADHD and GAD which were pretty much killin me.....i've been on a few antidepressants and stimulants which were pure hell to go thru and am now settled on Lexapro 20mg day and Adderall 80mg per day....
but I have lost well over 50% of my muscle mass I estimate, and strength wise maybe more like 60-70%....is very f'ing depressing but thats life...am 34 yo
am ready to get back into it but not sure how start, I cant even walk too fast w/o being out breath, am a software engineer and sit on my ass all day pretty much, so I was thinking start with cardio conditioning first for a couple months? then move to weights? I last left training on the 5x5 routine which was working pretty well

I know some people will jump all over the adderall, but it works and i take it for treating a legitimate condition with script...I ve been on it for almost a year and it no longer gives me "speed" like feeling, or appetite suppression or the like...which is how is suppose to work, but it does calm me down and allows me to focus.....
one of my biggest mistakes was taking energy pills loaded with caffeine, which is the worst thing for anyone with ADHD!! i havent had a ounce of caffeine in a very long time.

anyways just looking for advice, good to be back reading posts in here

not too much, except for an already challenged person like me....looking for above average build, not excessive mass but some and also some rip with about 15% body fat...not necesarily six pak but not the beer belly i have got now either....something thats sustainable for me.

I would start back into the weights. Add in a cardio day if you want or just do some light cardio following your weight training. Honestly, I don't think you need too much cardio at all. Just keep up a quick set pace and you'll improve your conditioning from there. How many days per week do you want to train? I wouldn't go too heavy right away because your out of shape. (hey you said it) ;) Seriously though, anything you do is going to be better than what you're doing. What's going to get you "feeling" good though is getting stronger first. That will motivate you to continue. Don't worry about the belly for now. It will go in time.
