how much weight = 1" on the arms

how much does the average person have to put on before they notice and inch on their arms (assuming training properly) and about how long does this take on and off a cycle? :D

kinda weird question but was thinking about ti today

cheers,

This possibly one of the least intelligent questions I have seen. I am not going to qualify that statement....

Not very intelligent on your part with that comment bro. Actually this is a valid topic. My arm size ONLY I repeat ONLY has changed with an increase/decrease in bodywieght. And trust me, my weight has fluctuated by 50 pounds.

To answer the question- for me I notice roughly 1" for rougly 10 pounds.

well let me put it this way.....do you care about how big your arms are or how big they look? me i care about how big the look. and i would say that doesnt have much to do with weight.

1" per 10 pounds? i think that is a pretty shitty generalization. say you start out at 170 which a lot of guys do with 14" arms. so when you get to 240 you will have 21 inch arms? sure didnt work for me that way.

Basically Iam, what they are trying to say is that it is impossible to answer that question. It will vary based on your genetics, muscle belly size & shape, training methods, etc.

The average lean US male that doesnt work out has a 10-14" arm. The blood pressure/heart rate testers at Wal-marts are made to accomodate a 9"-13" arm.

Go out, get a tape measure, measure your arms. Then make sure you have a solid training routine and diet, then get plenty of rest. You will make good gains.

We can all help you with your training if you give a little bit of background info. What are your stats (Ht, Wt, BF%)? How long have you been training? When do you like to train?

Damn beefybull thats why that thing squeezed the shit out of my arem last time lol it didn't work all that well.

Yup, i know u feel bro! I put my arm in one of those bp/pressure readers at a local grocery store w/ pharmacy. (Arm size 16") and it kept canceling the measurements half-way through b/c it cannot squeeze my arm properly or something, but if you read the fine print down on the bottom of the instruction screen-- for best results for arms between 8-13"

I felt pretty good after trying that. lol.

I think it depens on your height. Lucky for you I am anal and keep track of everything. When I started training (about 10 years ago) I was 190 @ 6'3" I had 13" arms. A week or so ago I was 245 with 18.5" arms. So that is 5.5 inches for 55 lbs of body weight. That works out to a nice even 1" per 10 lbs of bodyweight. Strange that it works out that way. I would think if you were shorter that not as much of a gain would be needed. Maybe I am wrong.

Good Luck!!!!

many thx to all the bros who gave me an answer, and fuck those who didn't like the question.

i was just thinking about it one day and was wondering if their was a generalization, thx again for the input

there is no such thing as a dumb question

This question is about as fucked up as a football bat. That would be like asking how many twinkies need to be eaten to go from a 34" waist to a 40" waist.:chomp: Who the fuck knows and who the fuck cares?:FRlol:

Good point jc, look is definitely more appealing than size. A 180lb guy @ 7% bodyfat will look a lot bigger than a guy that is 215lb guy with 20% bodyfat. My training partner at my gym is only 200 lbs at 3.5% bodyfat, but when I first met him, I would've sworn he was at least 220lbs. It's all in the look!

My point exactly. This question is fucking retarded. You could actually get bigger arms just by eating twinkies. They could grow in diameter from subcutaneous fat. If you are a tall guy with long arms , it is obviously going to take a lot more weight to grow one in then a short guy with short arms. And people put wieght on difft. Someone could be working harder on legs say or another body part that may grow at a faster rate then his arms causing more total wieght to go on his body with no increase in diameter. A book could be written on the variables in this question. Noone can tell you for sure even if you fill in the variables.
